I believe these wildfires are no “accident”.

All these mandated blackouts are part of PG&E’s scheme. They are trying to get people angry enough so the people will agree to either a government bailout or force a new way to deliver electricity, or to be able to pass some legislation that PG&E will benefit from.

This video has an interesting take on things:

Extreme fire danger situation.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. issued an unprecedented notification to potentially shut off power across much of Northern California, as many as 30 California counties including almost all of the Bay Area on Wednesday morning thru Thursday Night to prevent power lines and equipment from sparking wildfires. Winds are expected to be 20mph to 30mph in the mountains with gusts of at least 55pmh, Gusts up to 30mph are expected in valleys.

See Humboldt county? That’s where I live. The ground is still wet from our last rain. The grass is regreening from the summer. We have beautiful baby ferns growing along the highway. And, yet, our power will go off later today. We are fine. Set up. Turn the generator on, switch from PG&E to the generator and the house is lit up.
Where we live, many did not have electricity until four years ago. We have lived this way, for years. If we don’t leave our little community, things are normal. The store, clinic and tribal offices automatically switch over to generators.
Then they have to make emergency runs to keep us with gas. Literally.

I think the power company should do a Preparadness program. Like they do the weatherization program. Help those who can’t afford to prepare, and educate the rest of us, and make good generators available for the rest of their customers, at cost.
When this happened the last time, I worried about those who need to keep meds cold, and use some sort of heath-support device that runs on electricity.
But, I think this is a part of the system living, “high on the hog”,  and, a power company that had to know that those lines that bring us power, also had the means to set fires.
Oh, rather then darken all of Humboldt county, they are showing maps that include all of the electrical grid. Just the grid.  Darkened. We are rural, for the most part, so if you glance at it, you don’t realize it includes all of us. All.

No power in Venezuela too.

I know. This puts things in prospective. We jump up and down about no electricity. How about combining it with lawlessness, no food, or medical care.

It appears their actions are both political and practical. Keep in mind that their current CEO that is making these decisions is being blamed for the mistakes his predecessors made. He is apparently trying to make things better and is getting blamed for years of neglect.

My daughter was diagnosed with asthma. I can't imagine if we live in venezuela without power and no medicine.

This is getting real bad real quick. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/its-time-to-drop-things-pack-and-go-threat-of-85-mph-winds-forces-50k-to-flee-in-northern-california/ar-AAJpuvN?li=AAggNb9

After a brief break from howling gusts, residents and firefighters in Northern California's Sonoma County braced for more ferocious "Diablo winds" Saturday, prompting new evacuations of at least 50,000 people near the roaring Kincade Fire.

We lost power at home and both our local KHs have no power.

Our CO visit is this week, so we will all be sadly disappointed if we have no meeting today.

Things are getting crazy here I California.....I think it’s time to consider leaving this state.

You can always move to the bitterly cold northern states with the cripling snow blizzards and deadly cold they have been having. There is also the midwest with the tornados and flooding. Or maybe the southeast with hurricanes and flooding. Of course there is the northeast with the storms and cold they have been having lately - not to mention the heatwaves and drought that have been plaguing much of the country the last few summers

Yesterday’s meeting. We used a generator.
Yes, still no power. My husband is researching how we can get through a really long outage. We surrendered our solar system, (sold it off, piece by piece) when we got electricity. Now, we are sorry.
When I checked this site , I had 40 notifications. We don’t have internet unless the generator is on.
This system is crumbling, and, I think it’s beginning in this country, in California!

Well, I reread my comment. How self-centered it is, with all that is going on, throughout the earth. And I whine about the electrical grid. Sorry. 😔

I did not find your post "self centered", Bea. I am relieved the fires have not reached your area...it is so scary, even though we live in Florida. empathy I guess. Please keep safe!:crush:

Yes..and I was wondering about Richard and others..the news says the fires are soooo bad, and mass evacuations, and just now how some evacuation centers are full, and people, even families are having to sleep in their cars in the parking lot! How thankful I am to know our brothers and sisters will be cared for!💓

Thank you for the kind thought. I'm about 50 miles from the Kincade fire so I'm not affected by any evacuations. During our Circuit Assembly yesterday there was an announcement that there may be a need to house friends that are evacuating that area. Many of the friends in our circuit are from the Napa area that is much closer to the fire, however I haven't heard that any of them had to evacuate.
