my wife was due to go on a zoom bible study, but the sister phoned to cancel.  She is Lebanese and is checking on her family who live near the blast!
We have many Lebanese brothers and sisters in our congregation.  Prayers much needed, thanks.

I'm just seeing this. The explosion was very massive! I hope our brothers and sisters are okay. The range of the shockwaves shook its vicinity insanely 😢

The brothers in my congregation have said that their families are ok, but windows smashed by the blast and ceiling tiles off one brother’s flat!  Obviously I don’t know about the brothers in general.

Shock was felt in Cyprus!

If I heard right from ABC USA news, it was possibly a stockpile of ammonia nitrate.

 

My suspicions is that there were tons of the stuff detonated for that kind of explosion.

Many years ago in Roseburg Oregon a long haul trucker parked his load of ammonium nitrate along side a warehouse down by the RR. He heard fire alarms and looked down the street and saw his truck which was not yet in the fire. He ran torward the truck with the idea of moving it, two late the truck exploded destroying the city of Roseburg. Death toll was similar to the first reports from Beirut. It will go up much higher.

This is incredibly sad- I'm not much of a person who keeps up with world news, but this is harrowing. A news report pointed out that Lebanon was already in such a hard situation because of COVID-19. Praying that the brothers and sisters will be ok, and also the other people who need help and comfort. =(

A terrible event, but not on an international scale. The total deaths are not likely to be as high as Covid-19 deaths for the last 24 hours.

The effect will be soul-destroying... already starving and unemployed, and now homeless and injured with many missing.  The misery felt by those poor people!  Keeping our friends in my prayers too, as we know whatever the personal loss for them, only Jehovah can give them comfort.  Poor things 🌹

An American terrorist used 2000 lbs of ammonium nitrate in Alfred murra bldg destruction years ago. 

 

Yesterday's blast was 2,750 times worse or 5, 500,000lbs of the product that exploded. Wow!

Wow, when it blew with that white mushroom cloud, I thought it was a nuclear device!  It reminded me of Horishema, during World War 2.  I hope this was a accident and not an act of terror! It was the 2nd massive destruction I've seen in my life time dealing with bombs.  Oh the loss of life, so precious!  Br., who has many Labenese friends, our brothers and sisters living in or near that epic of the explosion, my prayers to you and your congregation, and our beloved family's affected by this explosion.  I really thought some country dropped a nuclear bomb.  But I have heard something else.  Oh my, so much looking forward to the Kingdom, in power, no more bombs of any sort going off!

"Our CO (Lebanese) just informed us this morning that not one JW was injured in the blast in Lebanon. Amazing."

Lebanon Investigation think that this cargo came from a Russian cargo ship back in 2014. And a few hours before the blast happened, there were maintenance crew that were fixing a warehouse door, they are unsure if this is connected somehow.
