Sights to See in Las Vegas, NV? (Even During Covid)

Recommended Posts

I guess this is the best subforum for my thread as I don't think there is a separate travel subforum except for the travel club? Too bad this is visible for visitors, too, though.

Anyway, my wife just let me know she got me as a present (:crush:) a brief trip to Las Vegas for our anniversary next week. There's bound to be a couple of members from that area here, too, right? *cricket sounds* Right?!

Are there any sights/cheap eateries that are still open during Covid that you would recommend? For instance, according to Google Maps, Hoover Dam is like 45 minute drive from central parts of Vegas. Is it worth visiting? The monorail in downtown seems to be closed, though.

Had to change the title...no, I don't have Covid...I don't think I do anyway

We enjoyed Hoover Dam. But those sights can be an individual taste. I like the views from the top of the Stratosphere. They had rides up the top as well.
The eye/ferris wheel was good.
They had booths for cheaper late-book tickets for shows. We saw Rod Stewart real cheap. (once again - personal taste)
Blue Man Group has a show. We went twice. There is plenty to do, but use caution. Vegas is there to take your money.

We went to Las Vegas in 2018. The Strip is a wonderful place to spend a day or two. Every hotel has something special and surprising. One looks like Venice, another has an Eiffel tower, another one is a circus and so on.

We went to see "O" by the Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio Hotel and it was the most impressive show I have ever seen. The price is not cheap but it was well worth it. Absolutely wonderful. And the hotel is wonderful to visit, even if you don't go to see the show. It's the casino from the movie Ocean's 11.

We loved visiting the Hoover Dam although we didn't have time to take the tour inside. There is a visitors center nearby where they give you detailed info on what to do in the lake Mead area.

If you are only staying for the weekend, you have more than enough with the Strip and maybe Hoover dam to get a taste of the wilderness. If you are staying more days, the Grand Canyon is less than five hours from Las Vegas and it's amazing. We took a helicopter to visit it and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. We drove to the South Rim and took the helicopter from there, but you can also take it from Las Vegas and save a lot of time from driving.

We also enjoyed Death Valley, with is a couple hours from Las Vegas. Again, it depends on the amount of time you have. Whatever you do, be prepared for the scorching heat!

Yes there is so much to see just on the strip. 💰💰💰💰💰 Well M&M’s World saw me coming anyway.

MGM actually had a lion way above the walkway.

Saw a show by  Cirque du Soleil. It was great till one of the guys on the swing things way above came down on the net scared me silly) and then had to get back up there.

Went to the Cheesecake Factory for a meal. The plate alone could have fed 2-3 people. But it was good food.

Awww, fun memories. 😁😁😁😁😁

There is so much to do. You'll run out of time before you run out of things to do. The Valley of Fire is worth the drive. I'm a desert person and would love to live there for a couple years if I could.

Each casino is wonderful for just getting a cup of coffee and sitting down to watch people and gawk at the architecture.  Amazing. The Venetian is by far my favorite.

And google buffets, find one you think you'll like. Choice is amazing.

I have never been to Lost Wages .... not on the top of my list of places to go

However, there looks to be 13 Kingdom Halls, two on North Walnut not far from each other. They may not be open but you could take pictures of each of them
