May I ask the moderators why this thread does not say “Spoiler Alert” when many details - including screenshots, transcrpts and mp3 files - are put online here before the program has been put online at jw.org?   ⁉️

The question of when something can be downloaded or shown has already been answered here several times. As soon as our brothers put it online, we can use it. If they don't want us to download it, they hide it. After the publication, it only depends on our capabilities or our possibilities (e.g. which browser or which device we use) whether and when we can get it. They put it on Akamai.net and Amazon first.

Good morning. Any time that you want to talk directly to any of the moderators or ask a question, the fastest and best way to get our attention is to open a topic in the Confidential forum.

We have a topic each month about the latest Broadcast.  It should always be assumed the monthly topic will discuss that particular month's broadcast. The moderators feel that the month and year in the title is enough warning that there will be spoilers.

We cannot know when each member will eventually watch the program. We trust our members to exercise good judgment. If they don't want to be spoiled, we trust they will simply avoid this topic until after they view the program.

It is nice to share in the speculation and anticipation, though, and that would be denied if the topic were to be completely avoided.  Isn’t it at least possible to have a different thread for spoilers and screenshots etc?

Trusting members to show good judgement would also include trusting them to not share details that others have no access to yet, would it not?  It matters not when a member decides to watch the program, but when the program is available for them to watch in the normal manner.

Spoilers and screen shots of what? If it's part of the broadcast then it is available and there isn't any reason for spoilers. If they aren't part of the broadcast then they should be in their own topic.

Is there a manner to watch it that is not normal? I have always watched it when released “in the normal way”. Not before if this is what you meant. And it's impossible to watch it before the time the brothers decide to make it available on line.

Once it is available to any member, it can be considered public information. It appears the broadcast is available in ASL before it is available in English. There isn't any reason to make this a spoiler thread just because ASL is first.

Anyone know anything more about that?

I was wondering what are the 5 most spoken languages among the Jehovah's Witnesses..

Maybe:

Spanish

English

Portuguese

French

?

That would be interesting to analyze

Would be interesting to find this out!

They did say most "widely" spoken, not most spoken...I wanted to learn more about that.

It was... Interesting..
I do understand the change, but it doesn't touch my heart at all..
So.. I'll try this one!
(in the past, the brothers made two options with some movies. The dubbed one, but when you pressed the subtitles-button, the video changed to English with Dutch subtitles. I honestly hope they will make this available!)

If the branch doesn't supply the subtitles, (vtt) then there won't be one.

Edit: This may be the file you are looking for.

It was also dubbed in Swedish. It makes it easier for small children to follow along. However, it is not impossible, I’d guess, to implement a solution where you can listen to the original audio and have subtitles in addition to the dubbed version.

Many times, I much prefer the original audio. It’s very nice to hear what the original voice what our brothers and sisters from all around the world has. When I watch the video in English, I get to hear most of the talker’s voice in their original voice.

I understand the dubbing provision is made so that you don’t need to read the subtitles, but to give the choice would be much better. (I still use the dubbed version when I don’t want to feel like reading the subtitles.)

Why didn't the Dutch dub touch you the same?
Well, most Dutch friends are not used to it. Everything is with subtitles. On TV, the only thing what is dubbed are programs for children. Everything else is with subtitles. So the Dutch are very used to hearing English, while reading Dutch. Most Dutch speak English as a second language; a percentage as high as 90-93%.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subtitles

But what is really the worst thing for me are dubbed experiences! Normally we heard the native language of a brother or sister and then Dutch subtitles. That was amazing, because you could hear the person's own voice, emotions etc. Hopefully the brothers will change something again. Because even the English dubs, while listening to an experience from someone from a non-English speaking country, doesn't touch me..

I use Microsoft Edge.

Go to the website and select the video but don't play it.

Press F12

Make sure Network is selected. (on top)

Press refresh (F5)

The last one is the vtt file:

Rightclick on it and select open in new tab. The file is downloaded.

Next you need to remove the timestamps. I use Excel for that. Copy paste to Word.

If you want to remove the hard returns (In word): Select Ctrl + F (Search and select) Type ^P (Shift + 6) and replace them for a space (Simply click the spacebar). Replace all.

Okay, I get that. I never watched dubbed foreign films- always subtitles. Most of the acting is in their voices!

In fact, with our videos I'd prefer to hear the original voices and read the subs... but they're dubbed over in English. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We have members that know various URLs and will post "sneak peaks" of various publications. I'm not sure if that includes the monthly broadcast or not.

I don't like it but that's just my opinion. Since it doesn't violate our policy, and since these sneak peaks have gone on for years now, they should be expected.

This is social media. Always assume there will be spoilers.
