“The Only Thing That Matters Is Your Relationship With Jehovah”

A 5:00 a.m. phone call from a congregation elder awakened Brother Femi Durodola and his wife, Yana. “The brother said: ‘Don’t worry, just get ready. The Russian army is coming to Kyiv!’”

The newly married couple got dressed, prepared the last cup of coffee they would enjoy in their home, and read the text for that day. It read: “Your strength will be in keeping calm and showing trust.”

Equipped with only the essentials, those fleeing are boarding trains and buses to embark on arduous journeys to safety, sometimes not knowing what the final destination will be. With their faith in Jehovah to bolster them, they leave war-torn cities, uncertain if they will ever return.

It's very encouraging hearing these stories.  We yearn and pray for those still there, in fact all who have left too.  Even though they've left the war front, they still have an immense amount of trauma that only Jehovah can ever soothe.  Our brotherhood is truly a gift from Jehovah to help comfort them.  I know how I'd feel seeing the JW.ORG sign.

I agree!  I imagine communicating with others would be difficult.  Many fleeing are sisters and children going to countries where they may not speak the language. They don’t have any idea where a KH is much less how they will contact the friends. Imagine how reassuring to get off a train and immediately see the JW signs!  So much relief!

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

Yeah. I cried too when I read it. (You wouldn't want to see a grown man cry...) The things our brothers and sisters have to go through to remain faithful, and to remain alive...! It is stories like this that make me wonder if I could do the same if I was living in that part of the world.
