For our letter witnessing, I have been using the subject of public shootings as something to start off some of my letters. I don't specifically mention Buffalo, or Uvalde, or any other location, but just allude to what we've been hearing a lot of in the news recently. Then I quote Psalm 37:10, 11, and direct them to the magazine "Breaking the Cycle of Hatred." Now I have another specific article to direct people to.

Very well written article. People are confused about this matter, and it has been a point of concern in our area.

 

The audio reading of that article is exceptionally clear with all the right emphasis - in addition to the explanations and comfort it gives - it is a good article to listen to in order to improve our public reading

So, that's what I did. I wrote a letter using this article. The text of the letter is as follows:

Dear Neighbour,

It seems that more and more frequently we are hearing news of school shootings, or some other act of hatred or violence. We have even heard about such things right here in Montreal in the past. Do you think we will ever see an end to these violent crimes? I would like to draw your attention to what the Bible promises us in Psalm 72, verse 14:

From oppression and from violence he [God] will rescue them, And their blood will be precious in his eyes.

According to this verse, all humankind will soon live in a climate of perfect peace. What a change that will be, when no one will need to worry about their children becoming victims of shootings.
