I lived in Desert Hot Springs when the Landers quake happened.  I remember seeing the jets of dirt shooting up when the earth was slapping together.

We were setting steel on a pretty good sized project and I was walking beams during the day when aftershocks hit....

Lucy - Japan is such a beautiful country!

You should go!

And the brothers and sisters are SO loving!

 

I have a number of dear friends in Japan, and email them whenever I hear of yet another earthquake.

So yes, there have been some devastating earthquakes around the country, but I'd go back in a heartbeat.

 

One thing I do know for sure, the society is in Japan and Ecuador taking care of the victims.

The Big Ones: Scientist warns up to 4 quakes over 8.0 possible under ‘current conditions’

Roger Bilham, a University of Colorado seismologist, told the Express, “If (the quakes) delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes.”

A total of 38 volcanoes are currently erupting around the world, making conditions ripe for seismic activity in the Pacific area.

Interestingly, of the four gospel accounts, only Luke uses the adjective "great" in describing the foretold earthquakes. This fits in nicely with the cited article, and of course, there have been and continue to be, great earthquakes in many places since 1914 as part of the sign Jesus gave us to look for.

New Zealand is no stranger to Earthquakes, but now they also have this:

 

Quake and volcano monitoring service GNS Science raised the alert for Mount Ruapehu, in the North Island's Tongariro National Park, which last erupted in 2007.
