I work with the mentally challenged and handicapped. At this time I am working at reducing my days so I can get out in service more. I am working 6 days on and 8 days off at the moment. I leave home on Tuesday and return on Monday, every other week. The job has been good for me but I need to reduce my time to care for family obligations, and of course Grumpy.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

5 days/ wk I am 'Comfort Keeper' for an Austrian lady in asst living, providing companionship, comfort and & care for her and her cat Misty. She is teaching me German while I am teaching her to love Jehovah. We study 'Good News' Brochure together t2 days/ wk

... also I mow lawns & trim trees, garden planting & pruning, pressure washing, window jobs ~ though much of this does not pay & often becomes a kind act for older or blind ones in our Hall

it's all good, the flexible hours allows me time to visit our dear gray-headed and infirm sisters, also those in asst living, and of course time for ministry

I work as a project manager in a company that produces metallic parts for the automotive industry

I work generally between 8h to 10h a day or more if it's needed.

I hate my job because it's the most stressful thing... I get home everyday extremely tired and don't have strength to do anything more but lay myself down.

My wife works in the same company as me but on the morning shift on the production plant.

She starts at 5h45 AM and goes home at 2h30 PM

she used to be a pioneer but couldn't continue because it's a full time job and I couldn't help her as much as I should

The most thing I hate from my job is that I need to be always available... I can't be at home and not think on the problems I will have the day after on the work...

I can't go out in the ministry as much as I should because most of the times I am extremely tired from my head. Any way I go out on the ministry every other week alternating the weeks I have to be with my son. I also have one more study besides my son which is a family study on Friday night

And we are always present at the KH for the meetings

I was a paralegal for 9 years, legal secretary for 8, and since 2001, have cared for elderly parents.  I am also in the middle of a two year RN degree (long story).  Trying to get as much time in during the summer as I can, because once the end of August gets here, it's time to hit the books/hospital again.  :(  Wrote to the Society re: the need for workers on one of the Reservations out west.  I may be alone by the time I graduate, since both my mother and doggie are advanced in years, very unwell, and looking worse with every week that passes.  :(  If that is the case, I want to downsize and go somewhere where the need is greater.

Live long and prosper. 🖖🏻

Dear Pink Petal,

I raise toy poodles and since I do my own grooming both for pet and for show we may have some things in common. I have an Aunt who lives in Santa Rosa. I used to live nearby in Vacaville and Woodland but now live in Oklahoma. I loved driving through Sonoma and the green rolling hills, but they're not green this time of year unless irrigated. Sabastapol was one of my favorite little towns, so quaint. I haven't been back there for over 15yrs. I am trying to go back and visit the friends soon, the ones who taught me the truth and helped me out when times were tough. I thought this year we could go for a visit but as things happen, it looks as if this year won't be our year to visit, maybe next year. Glad to meet you.

As far as work goes, I have worked at restaurants, photography places, horse ranches, newspapers(as motor routes, deliveries and secretary), as an auctioneer assistant, ran my own daycare, worked in accounts payable for a large corp. and then worked for a bank in loans before my head-on collision with another car. Now I am disabled but raise toy poodles with my husband for xtra income.

Wow! You have done a lot of different jobs. It must have been fun going to the shows. I want to become a professional groomer one day. And, I LOVE  toy poodles! Toy poodles, maltese's, maltipoos, cavapoos, love'em all! Poodles or any other dog with a curly/wavy coat I love to groom, make them as fluffy as possible. :)

I'm currently living in Santa Rosa, I grew up here, then left for Marin County, then back to Sonoma County. You should definitely come back soon! Which hall did you use to attend? Maybe I've been to it.

Yes I did have to work many jobs to support 4 children, by myself in Calif. that's why I moved out here so I would only have to work one job and I finally bought my own home in Arkansas but then met a brother out here so we now live on his property.

Back in California I went to 2 of the halls in Vacaville and 2 halls in Woodland, I was there when each split so had to move to the new one when they split. Now I am not sure how many congregations they have in both places, I think Vacaville has 5 including Spanish and Woodland has 3 or 4 including spanish.

I've been in sales most of my working life...but did housecleaning and janitorial when back in the days when I was pioneering. I've sold pharmaceuticals, travel, signage and technology software & services etc. I hated the bureaucracy of corporate so have been in the small business environment for the past 12 years. Small business requires many hats and the ability to switch when needed. This has led toward a wide range of experience in many avenues of business management and operations. I currently work seasonally with my husband as an Insurance Adjuster working catastrophe claims from wind and hail or flooding from tropical storms & hurricanes. I also help my husband with the book-keeping, QB and estimating for his construction business. I'm planning to start working as a virtual assistant assisting solo-entrepreneurs with the administrative and marketing facets of their business.

I started working when I was about 10 years old delivering advertising pamphlets to mail boxes. By age 12 I progressed to delivering the local newspaper and then a citywide paper. When I was 14 I became of age to deliver milk, when we still delivered it house to house in glass bottles using a cart which could take 5 or 6 crates of milk. At that time I was a growing lad and was allowed to drink as much milk as I wanted. I would often drink 3x 600ml bottles a night. I could down a whole bottle of milk in about 10 seconds. Around that time I also had a job mowing a neighbours lawns. These were all part time jobs which I did after school and on weekends.

When I left school at age 15 I got a job for a month or 2 in a fruit and veggie store, going early morning to the markets where they auctioned off the fresh produce, then I would load the truck with crates, take it back to the shop and load it all into the cool store, then spent the rest of the day selling it in the shop.

My dream job was to become a commercial artist. I spent most of my spare time drawing things, but for some reason I hated doing art at school so never had any proper qualifications to even start studying it at tech. In the mean time my parents helped me get an apprenticeship in the printing industry. I officially started this as soon as I was legally allowed to work in a factory at age 16. I really enjoyed this. By the time I finished my apprenticeship at age 19 I had a bad case of dermatitis from all the cleaning agents and printing inks we used.

Thankfully at around that time a vacancy came up in the art department and my boss invited me to take this up, as he'd observed some of my artworks which I had printed off in the factory in my own time and was selling them to friends. I started off as junior artist/industrial camera operator/plate maker, then a short time later when the senior artist/ designer left I was promoted to his position and became head of department over 2 other staff members and became a vital interface between the the art department and the factory because of my printing knowledge.

By the time I was 22 years old I had a well rounded experience in the industry as well as dealing with clients directly, taking briefs, ordering supplies and dealing with outside trade houses for the services required to fulfill specialised projects. My boss refused several requests I made for a pay rise. I was feeling under valued. In the mean time one of the printers in the factory had left to start his own little printing business. He needed someone like me to provide the artwork and designs so I started working for him after hours.

While moonlighting for him I realised what potential there was for making 2 or 3 times the money I was earning in my full time job, so I left and started my own graphic design business, initially working for small print shops who didn't have art departments. I was 22 years old when I started and now I'm getting close to 50 so I've been doing it for nearly 30 years now and I STILL LOVE IT!

When I first started my business I set up a studio at home and that's how the witnesses found me. Thankfully, being self-employed has been a key factor in my being able to serve Jehovah in the capacity I do, so I have a very busy theocratic life. I have had field service groups in my home for many years and is a hub for the witnesses that has become known in the area.

Some people think I have many professional clients because everyone is always so well dressed, in suits, etc.

I could write a book about it... maybe in the new system. That's enough from me.

No trees were destroyed in the sending of this message, however, a significant number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

I work as a dog groomer 3 days a week a PETCO. I love it! They are super flexible with my hours and I get a 25%+ discount on all in store items for my dog and rabbit. Jehovah really answered ny prayer for a simple job that pays what I need and I can still do all my spiritual activities. :)

Have you ever been bit? We have to take our cocker spaniel in to the vet to get sedated while the groomer works on him. He was a giddy pup that had his ear cut the first time he was groomed- so badly it was spliced it never grew back together and you would not believe the amount of blood! Next time he had a seizure. Since then he becomes so hyperactive and fearful (fear biting) that he had to have anesthia-now e is so old the anesthia is to risky he gets sedated. I love dogs but I would be too afraid to constantly work on strangers.

Honestly, I've been in this business for a year and a half and I have only been bit once. Ive had a couple dogs snap at me but never bit. I'm just very careful and I've learned quite a few tricks to get a dog to trust me. : )

I currently work for an RV dealership in the sales dept. Though I like the business, It's too many hours. That's usually a problem with retail. Looking for other opportunities for a change that allows for greater spiritual growth. I'm pushing 60 (never thought I'd say that), so not a lot out there. But I'm looking and perhaps Jehovah will bless my efforts. Until then, doing what I can.
