Automatic registration of men to U.S. Military draft system begins December 2026

Recommended Posts

For our brothers in the United States should take notice of this possible situation. Although it may not be a huge deal at this time but still something to pray about as this can escalate as time passes by.

  • bvr changed the title to Automatic registration of men to U.S. Military draft system begins December 2026

From the article,it seems this issue has been ignored by several administrations probably because it just doesn't agree with the current principles of human right.

I doubt the US will want to do this after all the judicial precedence that clearly shows this to be a violation of human right, there will be widespread protests and criticism.

People are very enlightened today and want to assert their human rights, the government can't force people to serve the greed of politicians.

A number of European countries are also becoming more aware of their shortfalls in the size and structure of their armed forces. It is always wise for our families to consider how they should prepare for any such eventuality. Maybe, once every few months, a family worship discussion could consider what neutrality means in today's world.

The US already has the draft, this would just streamline the process.

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2026/04/08/automatic-registration-for-us-military-draft-eligible-men-to-begin-in-december/
Currently, almost all male U.S. citizens and immigrants aged 18 through 25 are required to self-register within 30 days of their 18th birthday, with late registration available until an individual turns 26.

The Selective Service System, the federal agency that maintains a database of registered U.S. males who are considered draft-eligible in the event of a national emergency, submitted a proposed rule to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs on March 30, according to the office’s dashboard.

It’s not a draft per se but a registry of men eligible if the draft comes into effect.

Interestingly I saw something about Germany now requiring men to seek permission from the military before traveling abroad for more than 3 months of time.

well that changed quickly!  lol. I just saw a news clip this week. Evidently people just became aware of the new law. Now it’s suspended.

However it does seem there is a trend of ensuring they know how many and who could go to war at any given moment. The political climate has caused more talk of military service and drafts for sure.

For those unaware here in the United States, there's an announcement every year at our midweek meeting reminding the brothers as they approach 18 to ensure they fulfill their legal obligation to register for the draft. (I don't know if it's still the case, but the secretary also used to provide a reminder. )

This applies to any man between the ages of 18 and 26 who is a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or otherwise not in a valid nonimmigrant visa status.

The exception is for international students and others in the United States on valid nonimmigrant visas. If they overstay their visa or otherwise lose that valid status, they are then required to register for the draft. Or if their residency changes and they become a permanent resident, they have that obligation to register.

Under the current system
