There are times when bacon becomes truly intrusive

You call it intrusive; I think of it as an aromatic hug. I welcome it invading my personal space. :D

No.its like listening to classical music and then someone ... who will remain nameless... comes in with loud rock music. Both are good but not together.

Can't help  but notice you waited til NZ was asleep before you quoted me BTW.

It's not my problem that you wait until the middle of the day to get up. It was breakfast time here..:D

It's nice to see you get up early and cook Tom's bacon sandwich for him.

I just learned the ASL sign for bacon!

I'm so happy, now I can ask for bacon without saying a word...:ecstatic:

Wat’s shakin’ bacon? bacon GIF

All this fixation about bacon

Is gonna cause my heart vexation

And cause my health to be forsaken.

My blood pressure will need to be retaken

But I will be unshaken

Because soon I will waken

And I will go out to Macon

On a trip that I have undertaken.

This is why I will never go to the UK.  :lol1:

If you order bacon in the United States, for example, you will be served a plate of fat streaked bacon. This bacon comes from the belly of the pig exclusively, and is also known as American bacon. Meanwhile, bacon in the United Kingdom lacks that distinct, fat streaked consistency, instead taking a more rounded, tear drop like shape. British bacon, unlike American bacon, comes from the back of the pig, and is much leaner than American bacon, with only a rim of fat around the edge.

When I was growing up in 50s and 60s England, streaky bacon was the only bacon I knew of that existed and the only bacon we ever ate.

When it became known as American bacon I have no idea, but I first noticed it when I went home in 2011. It was always known as streaky bacon when I was young, and you could have it smoked or green - which didn't mean it was mouldy, just not smoked. 😅

Back bacon is a fairly modern phenomenon in my experience, designed by the commercial system for those who are averse to animal fats but still want to say they like bacon. 🙄🤣

Streaky bacon is freely available here in Oz and still just called that - streaky - but it sits alongside the back bacon. Like Amanda, we have honey streaky available as well.

Canadian bacon, eh, is one of those foods Canada is famous for. Made from lean pork loin, it’s a tasty and healthier option compared to traditional bacon, eh. Unlike the belly bacon we’re more familiar with, Canadian bacon is more like ham, and it’s cured, smoked, and sliced, eh. Canada, with its love of hockey, maple syrup, and politeness, eh, has added this iconic bacon to the list of things that make it special!
