So the Word "Prejudism" is not an Official Word?

Recommended Posts

The words prejudice, prejudiced and prejudicial can all be found in dictionaries, but not the word "prejudism", except in an Urban Dictionary.

Yet we often hear this word "prejudism" in public, on TV, on the news, etc. However, when checking the WT Library, guess what? The FDS does not use this word! How interesting but strange that a common word like "prejudism" does not seem to be an official word. :shrugs:

Maybe there is some prejudice against the word prejudism? :D

This is when you get fine by policeman for speeding and you blame your car for it :whistling:

But it's true! It was the car!

I understand what prejudism might mean, but I am not sure that meaning is not covered already by "prejudice". Ex: He behaved that way due to prejudice.

I'm trying to understand in which context "prejudism" might do a better job that plain vanilla "prejudice".

Since prejudice is already a noun, adding “ism” to make it a noun seems redundant. It may be the person is trying to show the word to be “a practice, doctrine or ideology” instead of just a noun.  It is used sometimes but it does not show in regular dictionaries.
