JW Library

Is anyone else dealing with JWL crashing as soon as it loads up on a Windows 10 PC? I have been dealing with this all day today, and it hasn't been as solid a failure at any other time. I would appreciate any input that could be helpful. I'm not a novice with this kind of thing, but there is, actually, no support for failure of the app. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled, the  app three times today.

If the app hasn't updated the content in a while it seems to devote all of it's resources to refreshing itself. Usually just opening the app and letting it sit for awhile without try to use it will give it time to refresh.

Has your Windows 10 updated? There is/was a problem with the latest update and Windows removed/halted the update  :eek:  but, some got the update before it was halted ☹️

Yes, I've determined that it's the version of Windows 10 that I have. I can't roll back because part of my work is testing the OS as it develops. In my next report I will chronicle all of these issues. Thank you brothers for your responses.

I have not been able to access the JW Library update in my Kindle Fire 7.

 

I would like to be able to read Acts and have the supplementary information on the right side of the page as I was able to do with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

 

Is anyone else having problems with their Kindle?  I was wondering if it just takes longer for the update on a Kindle than on Windows or other devices.

 

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.

My wife and I's android tablets are having problems with highlighting. example: highlight one line and it disappears when another line is highlighted. That highlight disappears when yet another line is highlighted.  Turning tablet off and on again helps little but even when I think I have succeeded it all disappears.  This problem started at the same time with both tablets.  It is set to auto-update so I don't know if an app update caused the problem.

As it causes me minimum disruption, I haven't bothered to try and investigate. I assume it may resolve with future upgrades.

Mine does the same thing. I figure one of the updates will solve it eventually. :confused:

Likely the brother receiving the report didn't pause long enough to understand your problem. I have had that happen to me even though I thought I had stated the problem very clearly. The answer provided no cure, but the problem eventually went away. :D

 I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

Earlier I wrote that I was having a problem with the JW Library on Kindle Fire 7.

 

The book of Acts did not update so that I could see the supplementary information when studying.

 

I still have that same problem and I am hoping it will update.

 

I have a Samsung android phone running Android version 4.4.4

 

I checked the Bible on there and none of the books of the Bible have a diamond showing there is extra information.

 

In fact none of the books of the Bible on there have a headphone icon to show you can listen to it.

 

Can anyone give me any information about this so I can update it or will I have to wait until it updates automatically?

 

I have not used this telephone in some time.  It is connected to WiFi but I do not have a cellular contract.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Sr. Gloria, when you open the app and click on the Bible (holding it horizontally might help in "landscape mode). Do you see the language choices in the upper right corner?  The language icon is a rectangle with the letter "A" and a foreign letter.  It is between the "bookmark" ribbon icon and the "history" clock icon.  Click on the language rectangle.  It will show the versions of the Bible you have already loaded.  Is the English Study Bible listed first?  If it is, look to the right.  Is there a "cloud" symbol shown?  If there is, you need to click on theat "cloud" symbol to update your Bible.  Then close the app and restart it.

Dear Br. Hess,

 

THANK YOU so much for the information. 

 

I have updated my Bible on my Kindle tablet and now I can study the book of Acts.

 

On my Samsung phone I tried the same method/

 

The diamond icon and the earphone icon do not show on any books but when I open a chapter the diamond does show and I can read the additional notes.

 

On the Samsung it is necessary to go back and forth between the Bible text and the notes but really happy to have it on there too.

I am no expert, but I have been using JW Library on Windows 10 and Android systems for some time now (I love it).

I too have had some problems with JW Library, especially in Windows 10.

1.  Keep Windows 10 up to date (automatically get updates).  (We live in a dangerous world.  Those updates are helping to keep you safe!)

2.  The JW Library programmers are doing their best to keep up, but there is no way to tell YOU of every tiny change they make. 

      SO, go to the Microsoft Store and install the JW Library AGAIN.  (Do this as needed.)

      I know, it says you already have it, but trust me, you need to re-install JW Library to get the latest updates.

3.  I have seen a few cases where I had to completely un-install, and then re-install JW Library, to get it working properly again.

4.  Be SURE to BACKUP your JW Library from time to time.  This is the best way to insure you do NOT lose your high-lighting and notes.

      I will cover "Backing Up" in another post, later today.
