U.S. government officials are putting an early end to a study testing an Eli Lilly antibody drug for people hospitalized with Covid-19 because it doesn’t seem to be helping them.

Independent monitors had paused enrollment in the study two weeks ago because of a possible safety issue. But on Monday, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which sponsors the study, said a closer look did not verify a safety problem but found a low chance that the drug would prove helpful for hospitalized patients.

I am puzzled, quite frankly, by the constant promotion of doom and gloom predictions you post so much about. 

 

Deaths are way down, because of the increased understanding and treatment of the virus in hospitals, and the shift in age of infections. Bottom line: We are dealing with this a LOT better that 7 months ago:

This idea that mask can save “130,000 lives” isn’t supported by any evidence, especially considering how covid spreads fairly easily when wearing a mask:

Covid-19 deaths aren't rising as fast in Europe and US, despite soaring new infections. That doesn't mean the virus is less deadly

 

 ......there is a glimmer of hope: The virus, while still deadly, appears to be killing fewer people on average.

"We think it's probably driven a lot by age, but also other factors, like treatment,"  -  like Bob above stated

 The most obvious reason for the lower death toll is age.

Older people face a much higher risk of becoming seriously ill if they get infected, so an outbreak affecting a care home is likely to be much more deadly than one on a college campus.

 

With more young people getting infected, the overall fatality rate has dropped, but this doesn't mean the virus itself has become any less deadly. If it starts spreading widely among older people again, the rate may go up once more. This is already happening is some countries, including the UK where Oke and his colleagues have observed a slight increase in the fatality rate.

 

The way coronavirus patients are treated has also changed. Ventilators, which were used widely early in the pandemic, are now used less because doctors have learned more about how they may injure the lungs of Covid-19 patients. In turn, laying patients face-down, on their stomachs, has become more common as it has been shown to help increase the amount of oxygen getting into some patients' lungs.

The only cure for all of this is God’s kingdom..period. 

In the meantime do whatever you can do to keep healthy physically and mentally...

 

The times that we are living in has turned every action and reaction  a part of the political arena to sway people to follow their favourite tribal leader and put down other tribal leaders....

So to wear or not wear a mask is a political statement, and then to justify their political ideals they quote snippets of information to lend support to either concept....

 

The governing body has a protocol for all of its full time workers and a protocol when using or working at a Kingdom Hall ... That is safety first... is it perfect no .. the kingdom will have to accomplish that... 

This weeks mid- week meeting part on neutrality is a wake up call not to the world, but to brothers and sisters to not get sucked into the roaring rhetoric of punch and counter punch of the latest political topic of debate....

So if you post here ... and you have a fire in your belly about something...  and you want to straighten out some person and their perspective..ask yourself who is stoking that fire.

Yes it’s very true. 
I saw on the news this morning the desperation on the face of one intensive care nurse in Rome. The numbers are growing very quickly and the ICU are full of COVID patients dying.

It’s sobering. If only people would just listen to direction...😕

The mark of the beast is not some app nor barcode, nor computer program or whatever else Hollywood or Christian Fundamentalists imagine.  Let's not take a sarcastic comment made in jest and turn it into something that is a matter of doctrine. 

 

The beast of Revelation in this case is the world's political system. The mark of the beast is anything that shows we support this world and its political system.  If you want to look for literal, physical symbols then the mark can be represented by a lapel pin, a sticker that says you voted, a sign in your yard, your name on a petition, a flag flying on your property, and so forth.  The mark can even be seen by our speech and actions. 

 

But it's not an app used to trace our movements. It's not a GPS tracker or an indicator who we came on contact with who might have coronavirus.

Tonight in our breakout room, a brother said he got from his sports channel, it's time to vote, case your vote on Nov....  He has a football app on his phone, it was app NFL.  We talked about how sly this was in this system of things with it being sneaked into apps like these.  My trash came in the mail.  I tore it up and threw it out.  But the brothers in my hall warned us in that beautiful talk on Neutrality.  Thank you for your kind input, much appreciated.

I am more prone to believe that people are merely considering their own risk factors and are getting on with their lives as they see fit. After all, the age of infections has dropped significantly. That's why the death rate has plummeted. Young people are risking getting infected, banking on their survival rate to get them through it.

 

The bad part, or the part that makes them stupid, is if they spread it to more vulnerable people. That's a huge issue. Other than that, if you want to catch covid, that's YOUR choice. People are adults here. 

 

But please, don't come around me or vulnerable people.

This morning I was having breakfast at McDonalds. Looking at the app statistics, it looks like many in Singapore are now using either the TraceTogether token or app.

 

21-25 devices seems like close to how many were around the area I was at. So if any of us were infected, it would be easier to trace the infections.

I think the main reason is Taiwan is  an island and they can keep travel down unlike many countries especially the US where people come and go as they please whether they picked up the virus or not!

Yeah, Islands are in a much better position to prevent the spread because the only way on and off the Island is via air travel. I remember people praising New Zealand, only for that to stop when they had an outbreak.

 

They did show how prevention is the best method. It always the best method. But they are the exception. Not the rule.

I was hoping for an honest understanding from CNN's reporting and not a simple one sided view of their seeming success of dealing with pandemic.

I read the article, it stated this -" One is geography -- Taiwan is an island, so it's easier for officials to control entry and exit through its borders".

I hear you and agree. But CNN is hardly a trusted or truthful source (which is why I didn't bother to read it). Every covid "success" story CNN reports is directly used to attack the US federal government. 

 

So that's why they compare isolated islands to countries like the US which have physical borders to countries like Mexico and Canada where the virus can be easily driven to the US. 

 

Not an apples to apples comparison.
