I don't know if we can conclude this. Do we have anything that tells us what the first century friends understood regarding this?

1 Thessalonians was written about 20 years before Jerusalem was destroyed. Later, John's gospel and letters were written almost 30 years after that destruction.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

So, imagine the first Christians read in 1 Thessalonians 5:3: “Whenever it is that they are saying, ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction will be instantly upon them…”

They were certain that this prophecy would be fulfilled in their days. I believe I will witness the end of the world, probably, they think.
Like us today.
If I write now, the GT will be at least 15 years or 20 years ahead; many would criticize me about it.

Maybe not.

When Jesus said that there will be wars as a sign of his presence, his listeners had already known the term, there wars in those times. What they probably understood there will be unprecedented wars. And since 1914 we can observe them.

similarly, since the term „Peace nad security” was known for some time (decades at least), the recipients of this letter probably imagined that there will be unprecedented proclamation of peace and security.

🙏 Thank you! 🙏

The Russo-Ukrainian war will end when Russian troops completely leave the territory of Ukraine (Donetsk, Luhansk, parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, and Crimea). This is the only option for peace to come.

Another question is when this will happen. Some think it will be in 2025 or 2026. Some think it will be in 2028. I personally don't know.

I don`t think so.

Looks like it will be some mid-line between Russian appetite

(freeze South front line and take all the Donetsk and Luhansk region) and Ukrainian wishes above.

Probably front line will be just freezed at some moment
