4.8 magnitude earthquake centered in Lebanon, NJ — and felt in NYC — per early data and QuakeFeed app.

My coworkers in PA also felt it.

Emergency notification finally came to my phone.

The Yearstext is making more sense each day:

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Ps 56:3)

Hope everyone is OK.

When was the last time this area had an earthquake, if ever?  🤔

From the New York Times:

A 2.2 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of New York and New Jersey in May of last year, and a 3.6 magnitude earthquake rocked the town of Adams Center, N.Y., the month before that. In 2011, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Virginia led to the evacuation of City Hall and Midtown office buildings in Manhattan.

The most significant tremors recorded in New York City occurred in 1884, Mr. Pratt said, when a 5.2 magnitude earthquake rumbled from beneath Coney Island.

Biggest earthquake in New York area in 40 years

New Yorkers are used to wild weather and major storms, but they're not so used to earthquakes.

A 3.8-magnitude earthquake did strike Buffalo, New York last year on 6 February, but an earthquake of today's size has not occurred in the area for 40 years.

That quake, in 1983, shook residents near the town of Newcomb, in upstate New York with a 5.1 magnitude.

An interesting video I just watched for the area of the world I live in, the Pacific Northwest. We are about 45 miles from the Pacific ocean. We live next to the Columbia River and watch the power of changing tides daily. Lots to think about and do. We have a bridge that is a main artery to getting out of our area, which would most likely collapse. One thing the video did not cover would be the disruption of communication. I think it's just a given fact that when a disaster happens communication goes out.

I remember the earthquake of February 28. 2001 called the Nisqually earthquake. We were living in Michigan and all my attempts to reach friends and family were nill for the first week. All we could do was watch tv reports pray and hope.

We need to be prepared for an earthquake in our area not just physically, emotionally but spiritually. When will it be? Don't know. Just because we don't know when something is going to happen, does not mean not being prepared.

Hopefully this updated forecast map wasn't posted before in a previous message.  I am an ex-Californian but quakes had always been on my mind and have been through several when growing up.    People usually think of California (with which the threat covers almost the entire state) but also the Pacific Northwest risk is there also, especially Seattle.   Seattle would also be a big mess if a sizable one was to occur.

Where I live now, we are BAKING but not SHAKING.   Perhaps shaking at the thought of what heat this summer will bring again...

Why reports of major earthquakes seems become normal today?

For example, in just 1 week .. I heard reports about earthquake:

- In Taiwan,

- New York, 4.8 magnitude

- Philippines (on part of the sea) 6.8 magnitude

🤔🧐 Hmmm ..
