Worth noting - Medicine & science

Recommended Posts

I studied Natural Hygiene about 30 years ago.  It involved every facet of life and how those things affected our health.  Several things affected health for good. 1) sunshine,

2) pure water, 3} fresh air, 4) normal body temperature, 5) internal cleanliness, 6) sleep, 7) proper food, 8] exercise, 9) play and recreation, 10) rest and relaxation,

11) mental poise, and 12) rewarding work were some of them.

Quoted from Health Science:

Natural Hygiene is a health philosophy that emphasizes the importance of natural and holistic approaches to health and wellness. It is based on the belief that the human body has an innate ability to heal itself and that this ability can be enhanced by adopting a natural and healthy lifestyle 1.

According to the National Health Association, Natural Hygiene is a system of health care that emphasizes the use of natural methods such as proper nutrition, exercise, rest, and stress reduction to promote health and prevent disease 1. It also rejects the use of drugs, medicines, vaccinations, x-rays, blood transfusions, vitamin pills, food supplements, and other treatments as being of any use in restoring the body to a state of health 2.

Dr. Herbert Shelton (1895-1985) is considered the founder of the modern-day Natural Hygiene Health Movement. He was a prolific author of over 40 books on all aspects of health, was the publisher of Dr. Shelton’s Hygienic Review, a dynamic lecturer, and the operator of the world-famous Dr. Shelton’s Health School in San Antonio, Texas

Originally, the name was Hygiene.  It was started in the 1820s. When the medical adopted SOME precepts of Hygiene, it became confusing.  To separate the medical version of hygiene from the actual science of Hygiene, the unfortunate name of "Natural Hygiene" was chosen.  Of course, saying Natural Hygiene caused some unusual responses.  Once when I mentioned Natural Hygiene to a woman, she responded with, "You mean they don't bathe?!"   You can see how saying Natural Hygiene can cause confusion.

The history of hygiene dates back to ancient times. The Greeks believed in the importance of personal hygiene and cleanliness, and the goddess Hygieia was considered the patroness of health 1. However, the modern science of hygiene began to emerge in the 19th century. In 1865, the first chair in experimental hygiene was created at Munich, which signaled the entrance of science into the field of public health .

The Natural Hygiene Movement is an offshoot of naturopathy that advocates a philosophy of ‘natural living’ that was developed in the early nineteenth century 1. According to Herbert M. Shelton, the founders of Natural Hygiene were Dr’s Isaac Jennings (calling his own system “Orthopathy”), Russell Trall, John Tilden, and Rev. Sylvester Graham However, it is said that the Natural Hygiene movement is said to have been founded during the 1830s by Sylvester Graham, inventor of the “Graham cracker”.

Dr. Herbert Shelton (1895-1985) is considered the founder of the modern-day Natural Hygiene Health Movement 4. He was a prolific author of over 40 books on all aspects of health, was the publisher of Dr. Shelton’s Hygienic Review, a dynamic lecturer, and the operator of the world-famous Dr. Shelton’s Health School in San Antonio, Texas 4.

That is 100% spot on.  Give the body enough "fuel" and it can repair & operate properly.  Also detox/avoid toxins and it will be at peak efficiency.  Do these 2 things and most (not all, but quite a bit) of ailments will disappear over time.

Thank you! Can you please check research on grounding? You seem well versed in this area, I just looked at some articles about it and got the impression that’s it’s not really proven. If you can a deeper look and share with us, I’d appreciate it 😀

Hey Michal!

Yes it is a very complex subject to dive into, though a very fascinating one for sure!  I can tell you right now the negative reports & naysayers are because they don't understand it's a process.  They don't understand how it works.  They just see the claims that "it fixes inflammation, it fixes energy levels, it fixes sleep, etc. etc. etc." and they think as soon as they start using it, everything magically will get better.  But that's not how it works.

Lemme just explain the process as simply as I can:

image.thumb.png.6d8880521ddc62b78ed28d3d841d1009.png

image.thumb.png.58aad765f186730c8dd972fc4b3a2b2e.png

Grounding itself does not fix anything with you.  All that grounding does is gives your body raw energy so that your body can heal itself.

That's it!

How long will it take for your body to heal itself with just that addition to your life?  Probably a long time.  Some notice improvements right away with their inflammation issues.  That's a whole 'nother discussion why inflammation could be fixed so quickly.  And I'd be happy to explain if you wanna dive into that one.  But suffice it to say, adding a grounding mat to aid in your health is like this:

Imagine your health was a car traveling away from you at 80 MPH.  You are traveling at 50 MPH.  Your health is quickly leaving you behind.  What would it take to catch up?  Would you need to go 80 MPH?  No....you would need to go FASTER to catch up.  Adding a grounding mat would be like increasing your speed to 65 MPH.  Is that enough?  No....though it is possible your health car slows down for a time and you can catch up then.  But if you are advanced in age, you know your health car is moving fast!

Now what else can you do?

  • Buy a water vitalizer & drink hyper-hydrogen water (add 10 MPH)
  • Go out in the sun at least 30 minutes a day (add 10 MPH)
  • Detox on a regular basis (add 15 MPH)
  • Avoid Teflon cookware, fast food, and microwave popcorn (add 5 MPH)
  • Fix leaky gut (which we all have) (add 5 MPH)
  • Use red light on your thyroid (add 5 MPH)
  • Add fresh plants in your home for oxygen (add 5 MPH)
  • Use supplements to support your systems that aren't doing so well (add 10 MPH)
  • Work on de-stressing (add 10 MPH)
  • Check for & address sleep Apnea (add 10 MPH)
  • Eating good quality food (and avoiding seed oils) and getting exercise (add 10 MPH)

Do you see how restoring your health is way more than just a grounding mat?  Sure, it will absolutely help you.  But you may not get the results you expect, and certainly not as fast as you expect...since you have a lot of catching up to do.

All that being said, I have gotten 3 friends in our congregation to buy & use a mat, and they do say they notice a difference.  Is it a big enough difference that they will continue with it?  I hope so.  :shrugs:  But if you understand the concept of trying to "catch up" with your health, then hopefully you will stick with it even if you don't notice any obvious results.

It took me 6 months to fully catch up with my health, and that was with ALL the things mentioned, and a few more that my doctor had to do.  So these things take time.  It takes time for your body to take this new extra energy and use it to replace old worn out cells.  Cells that now function better and are healthier.

image.thumb.png.2dc8b0a4cf5b8e2968c94e69479d4ba6.png

I hope this helps answer your questions about grounding mats!  Knowing about the illustration of the "health car", you can see why research would have mixed results.

Feel free to ask more questions on the topic as needed.  I've done lots of research, and this is absolutely something we should all know for how to take care of our health.  Dr. Kevin fixed both my liver & kidneys....and he didn't even target them.  Just gave me enough energy for my body to heal itself!

I try to touch the earth every single day with my bare feet. I cant always do it in winter time, but I love to set in the mornings with my feet in green moist grass, sip a cup of coffee  and read a chapter in Psalms out loud.

Makes me feel good and thats about all the proof I need. 😅Lol

This dental stuff is scary!

In the 80s & 90s (mostly 90s) my six kids saw a dentist as recommended then, paid for by the state insurance, and there was a lot of work done: fillings, crowns, root canals, were all part of it. NO ONE ever said anything about getting regular x-rays to check on infections developing! And of course, they aren't going to tell you that a root canal will shut down your immune system, or in any way compromise it.

Now - the 3 with the worst mouths, and the most dental work, including multiple root canals, crowns & fillings - now they also have the worst health!

State insurance (it's what they have) doesn't cover holistic dentists and probably not any biometric dentists (if any are close enough to get to). [The closest I've read about is in Idaho, I think. We're in WI with extremely limited budgets]

2 have tried going to the local tech school when they have open sessions with dental assistants in training (supervised by local dentists) - at least they get cleanings done, but finding anyone to do the work they are told is needed is a joke. The only TWO places that will take the state insurance have horrible reputations (none of their dentists even volunteer at this school) so we are avoiding those. Which means not seeing any dentist in years!

But the idea of dental work compromising our immune system actually makes sense!

Mine's been compromised from chemo ages ago - we've known that - but we haven't linked anything in particular to each of their immune systems being compromised, though they each have multiple indications it has been - until I read this!!!

Off I go.... heading down another "health" rabbit hole! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hey - any thoughts, comments, etc. on "Chris Beats Cancer" or "The Truth About Cancer - The Global Quest" or similar types of docu-series health info online? (this is still related to medicine-science, etc.)

Don't get a ROOT CANAL or a CROWN without looking into the risks!!

If you have one already, make sure you are getting your X-rays regularly like you are supposed to in order to make sure an infection isn't developing.

What’s the alternative?

The alternative (if you have a problem that was caught early) is to reduce sugar consumption & avoid acidic liquids for a time.  Do oil pulling and/or switch to a Xylitol toothpaste for a while.  It will take a few months, but the cavity can be killed & reversed with a strict discipline of following those ideas.  There's other YouTubes that talk about reversing the damage as well.

If the damage is too bad, the alternative would be to pull the tooth & implant a replacement (if desired).  The reason doctors don't want to pull is because your other teeth will start to move.  So with an implant, you won't have that problem.  It's just probably more expensive & more work.

I haven't seen those specific docu-series, but yes, cancer can be beat.  There's quite a few working treatments out there that don't involve radiating the body.

Listen to what he says about cancer and voltage:

Ever heard of heart cancer?  No?  That's because the body prioritizes the heart for voltage.  It gets all the voltage it needs to operate 24/7/365.  The rest of the body gets prioritized differently....and just like if you don't have enough money to pay your bills, it picks & chooses which organs to pay.  The ones that are neglected will have dysfunction and eventually cancer.

I love this information. I've been studying this also. The human body is such a complex network of cells and chemicals. Humans have no idea how powerful Jehovah made it! We see only a small fraction of its power in modern day "geniuses" and "world class-athletes." All praise to the Most High, Jehovah!

I'm glad you brought up sunlight and cholesterol. There are so many misconceptions on fat, still. I see nutritionists still recommend low-fat products to lose weight, despite the fact that more recent research has revealed that full fat products, particularly in regards to dairy based products have greater benefits than their low fat alternatives in weight loss, due to the consumption of these leading to greater and long lasting satiety, reducing the need to snack between meals. Fats and lipids are actually necessary for so many bodily functions, and when I was in school, I learned that the body burns fat when in a resting state, but you need a vigorous cardio workout in order to metabolize carbohydrates, particularly starch and sugar.
And, I've been starting to look into the benefits of vitamin D for immunity. I have a friend who found a resource that stated that the recommended dose for vitamin D is too low, or, at least too low for up here where there's a constant cloud cover, so he takes 3 times the regular dose from October to March and states he never catches what goes around as a result.

Speaking of, I'm conducting an experiment, and I'd like help from whomever is willing.....

So far, it seems true: No sunglasses = no burn

Allegedly, our bodies know how to protect against UV damage....if our bodies can "see" the danger.  Sunglasses prevent that.  A few days ago I was out in the sun for about 2 hours and I did not get burned.  I've gotten burned before with just 30 minutes of exposure.  I used to wear sunglasses all the time.  Lately, I've been going without if I'm in the sun for a long period of time.  And so far, it's been a really really long time since I've gotten a sunburn.

I haven't been "scientific" about this experiment, but just from my random observations, it sure seems true....

Idk. I never wear sunglasses and I was sunburned exactly once in my life, when I was 12, because I was swimming all day at a camping trip.
My husband burns more often and he also never wears sunglasses, but his epilepsy medication makes him sensitive to sunlight.

I suppose the amount & timing still matters.  It is also said that the red light we get at dawn/dusk is supposed to help prevent/heal burn.  So I suppose if we lived as we were created...to be in the sun all day, we get everything we need to protect.  If we skip dawn/dusk and stay too long in the damaging UV, even without sunglasses, then we can probably still burn.

Of course I'm sure there are unknown variables, such as medicine, that can change things.  That's why establishing hard facts is so difficult.  And why correlation <> causation is such an annoying thing.  🙄  This idea is just something to be aware of, and in your own personal experiences & observations, if you notice a statistically significant leaning towards being true, that would be good to know.

I appreciate your observations thus far.

Interesting...I don't wear sunglasses because my prescription glasses will tint in the sun.  I've never had a sunburn in my life until a couple of months ago helping my daughter outside at her house.  I'm also older now so I wonder how age and the changes in skin as you get older effect this.

When I was still a child I used to burn quite easily - and it hurt! I never wore sunglasses and still burned. We tried treating the burn with Solar Caine but that made it worse. I found out later that I can't use anything with Novocain or benzocaine ... seems I am allergic to both.

As an adult, I worked outside in the sun all day 5 days a week for nearly 30 years and did not burn. It never mattered if I was wearing sunglasses or not ... I no longer seem to burn.

I live in Florida, and it is recommended that when outside, especially in the summer months (here that is more like from May through October) we should wear sunglasses due to the intense sunlight on the eyes. I have no idea if we burn less with no sunglasses. However, if it is true we our skin burns less, it appears it would be a tradeoff. Burn your skin less and your eyes more or your eyes less and your skin more. One could lead to skin cancer and the other could lead to blindness ... take your pick.

I can't wait for the New System where these types of tradeoffs won't be the case.
