Latest version of JWlib locks windows desktop

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Since I updated to the latest version of the JWlib desktop app for windows (14.0.138) the application starts fully maximized blocking access to the taskbar or other windows apps (Alt Tab works). This seems behavior that was introduced with more recent versions. There's no way to resize the window or use escape to make the app resizable. Is there a way to start the app in normal i.e. not maximized mode? Thanks for your help.

What version of Windows operating system are you using?  I have Windows 10-Pro on three devices. One full-size desktop computer, one mini-desktop and a laptop unit.  All of them are using the latest Windows 10-Pro.  JW Library does not affect my taskbar display on any of them.

I have the latest JW Library (with the playlist feature) version 14.0.138

We're running Windows 10 with the latest updates. When we first launch the application it literally hijacks the desktop. We've figured out a way to solve this by pressing the "Windows"-button once. When we move the cursor to the top of the screen, the top windows bar of the JWLib application drops down with on the right side a resize symbol that you can click to bring the app back in "normal" resizable windows mode. This is the only way we've figured so far to "unlock".

I'm not per se putting the blame on the JWLib developers. It might well be a Windows feature that was changed in the Windows API that causes different behavior. Perhaps we need to look at a Windows setting to fix this.

Hmmm...reading up further on this it might be related to a Windows 10 update that introduced the "Tablet"-mode feature. I'll try to turn this off should it be turned on.

Another thing we need to look at is the "Full screen optimization" enabled flag that was introduced with Windows 10 update. This flag is by default turned on to optimize Windows games and apps when run in full screen mode. Obviously, this is not what we want if we want to access multiple apps running at the same time (e.g. JWL, VLC and Zoom).

Any other thoughts, hints or tips are of course welcome.

I realize that it is not much help, but I went and switched "tablet mode" to on and asked the computer to work in "tablet mode" rebooted and tried JW Library.  The task bar (in JW Library) remained the same as I showed in the picture above.  No difference in JW Library.

Of course my Library was installed before I engaged the "tablet mode".

We just started having this problem happen over the last 4 days.... I just found a fix ... when first opening jwlib it goes into full screen mode without the the bar at the top showing...I started a video streaming and the bar showed up at the top... I stopped the video and resized the app then closed the app and when we reopened it it remained resized and seems to be working as it should.

When I open JWLib, it goes to full screen mode.  I just move the cursor to the top of the screen and over on the right you will see arrows. I click the arrows and JWLib goes into regular mode.  I can then resize the Window as needed.  It works every time.  I hate to admit how many things I tried (that didn't work) before I tried this.
