In the last 2 years I've seen two people be disfellowshipped and come back around 6 months later. I was surprised by how quick it was (but very glad).

Actually the elders must analyze the situation of a disfellowshipped and can reinstate him in just 3 months (if he meets the requirements, of course)

Wow really big changes. The last time a big change happened, that I remember at least, was when they got rid of the 15 minute break before the Watchtower and that break was so others could smoke. The last time I remember it happened was in the early 70’s I was only 7. Anybody old enough to remember?  Now we know that’s not acceptable, but so much has changed then. It really shows how much Jehovah cares for us.

With 2 songs and a prayer (or 2) it was another  1 1/4 hours after the break.  Now we are only 1 3/4 hours total with the talk.

She told her younger sister to never call her early in morning unless Armageddon had started, or sisters could wear pants to the meeting. He sister called her early this morning..:lol1:

And that leaves only one reason to ever call her older sister early ever again !!!!!     :scared:

It was a turbulent time and adjustments were made and then unmade.  It is best to leave them to the past (or memories).  Disloyal brothers were removed and some of the decisions influenced by them were abandoned.

If you look at the index for 1970-1990 you will find the references to things like "disfellowshiping" are not found in articles dating after 1974 and before 1981.  It is best to leave them that way.

They do say history can repeat itself. Lots of unexpected adjustments. I guess we just need to ride the wave, any things that need to will get corrected over time. Can't go wrong sticking with Jehovah's organization.

A lot is being said about no more ties (and to a lesser degree jackets) but let’s not forget: Until another announcement comes, not as much will be changing at meetings for appointed men, especially in congregations where there are only so many to share program parts (where ties/jackets are currently still required). The biggest exception for them will be field ministry, and honestly that makes the most sense too, especially in summer. - Unless having a part on the program doesn’t include stage, sound and attendant duties, (which perhaps more direction will come), in which case appointed men may have more opportunity to do so.

I wasn't alive yet in the early 70s but it felt like a huge deal when they discontinued the separate weekly congregation bible study in people's homes and made it part of one single midweek meeting, and started encouraging us to do family worship. And had us stop asking for money "to cover the cost of printing and publishing" when placing magazines and publications. And discontinued magazine subscriptions, and drastically abbreviated the magazines. And then when they announced the revised version of the NWT and the new JW Library app in 2013. And started JW Broadcasting. And shortened the circuit assemblies to one day...all these changes have had big positive effects! (Although I do really miss the congregation Bible study in people's homes, but 3 separate meeting times a week was tough then and would have been nearly impossible now.)

Every winter when I’m arriving or leaving the hall and gust of wind blows some cold air on some of the friends, I always feel sorry for the sisters. I think to myself their legs must be freezing! Now sisters have have some warm pants to wear 😊

Also I can imagine some sisters may be relieved that they won’t have to necessarily shave their legs before the meeting. They can throw on some pants and hide it 😁

Wait, I’m confused - how did a part on the program become also those doing mics, attendants, and platform duties?

Unless I’m missing something?

Also, just how brothers doff jackets the minute they’re done with their program parts (at least they do in my part of the world), they can doff ties too… or better yet, wear clip on ties & bowties!

In winter, many sisters wore pants / tights and long skirts to cover them…

We had to shave our legs???? Oops!

Not that they had to, but women in my family would tell me how they hated having to shave for the meetings. Nobody is making them, just pressure from American culture 😊

I wish the GB would give me a heads up with these cosmetic changes.  Do you know the investment potential to know about this ahead of time?!?!?!  :lol1:

I hope you sold your razor and shaver stock...:lol1:

Thinking on the wording there. A friend had to meet back stage at the assembly. I asked what part he had ... he said I'm adjusting mics. So is that not a part on the meeting pardon me, i mean program? Just wondering?

They might clarify then…
