Last year, the publications were available for download during the first convention weekend, even for whose whose conventions were many months away.

 

According to some outspoken individuals, downloading the convention materials a few hours early is just as serious of a sin as eating the fruit of knowledge was for Adam and Eve, and should incur the same punishment.

To add to Stavro's explanation, when you tried to download the convention releases, before you could, you had to answer the question "have you had your convention yet" (or something like that) if you answered truthfully and said "no", you weren't shown the releases or the download links.
