My first harvest of 4 very pathetic plants, thought I wouldn't even get much. But it sure surprised me when I dug so many huge ones! I love digging for potatoes, it's like a present.

 

This one is 1 pound 3 ounces!!

Putting in a huge load of manure in the garden, a young brother will help me use my BIG wheelbarrow to place it all in.  Looking forward to spreading this beautiful stuff.

 

 

I had to trim back a volunteer tomato, I didn't think it grew many tomatoes, I was wrong. I got these and have many more to pick as they ripen.

About 7 years ago I got given a stick that came off a mulberry tree. I popped it in my garden. It did nothing for about 3 years. Then it started to grow. Now it looks like this. 

Jehovah's creation is amazing.

Once it gets going it really takes off but for about 4 years it was just a 'dead' stick in the ground. Obviously took that long to develop roots and put down enough to get going above the ground. My neighbour hates trees - "they make a mess" 🙄 so he's probably not impressed.

Well I love it and have been thinking about it since I first saw your post. I'd like to try one.

OK my trailer of poop has been spread, thanks to Br. Joshua who manned the wheelbarrow! Its beautiful and smells barnyard perfect out there! Even had some to spread around trees and planters in the front of the house.

Where its not spread is cucumbers that are still giving me veg and the big tomato that I'll probably get more ripe fruit from. When they're done I'll spread the excess manure over them.

With this much manure I hope to get a whole lot of growing going on next year, unless tribulation comes then who cares!!!!!

Thanks Terri, my raised beds are on top of about 3 feet of mulch. I'm loving them very much. That space was rescued from Boysen berries that only gave me a single product, the beds give me more options. 

Next year they're going to have pickling cucumbers, Armenian cucumbers and tomatoes in them. So excited for next season.

Canning potatoes today. Here's half of what I had.

 

Here's what was canned, yes one of the lids is a little extended but it'll go down as it cools.

I had to use pints because I canned so much this year I ran out of jars! I haven't done that in years. Maybe my food storage can be used by the brothers as the trucking problem escalates.

It almost doesn't look real, and it can happen anywhere in the world, even though a relatively rare natural phenomenon.

How do Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds form? Why do these cloud formations look like breaking waves?

Kelvin-Helmholtz waves form when enough moisture is present in the sky and when two separate layers of air in the atmosphere move at different speeds.

Let's go into detail.

There's a lower part of a cloud formation that is cooler and denser, and there's the top part of the cloud where the air is warmer and lighter.

As a result, the air on top of the cloud moves faster than the air at the bottom.

So, in a way similar to the ocean wave, the air moving over will make the top part tilt over or bend and almost crash down.

Kelvin-Helmholtz waves form when winds move faster at the top of a cloud's layer than the bottom.

This difference in wind speed or direction is called wind shear.

Faster moving air at the top of the cloud scoops the top of the cloud layer forward, producing a striking wave-like pattern up in the sky.

 

Next thing yah know, some sky diver with a surf board is gonna wanna jump out of a plane to 'catch the waves'.

The Red Sox fans were able to wade through it, the Yankee fans pulled themselves out of the way and the Dodger fans avoid the problem. Newscasters tried to contact each team but the Giants couldn't be reached and the Cardinals, Blue Jays and Orioles appeared to have flown the coop. The Astros had their heads in the cloud but the Tampa Bay Rays didn't think there was a problem at all. The Padres prayed for everyone and the Angels just watched...

A stump with Chicken of the Woods mushroom growing on it, it's in the back field of my house.

 

Went to a local farmers market today with a good friend/sister, it was so nice to spent one on one time with such a great sis. I got 2 giant Fuji apples, a pound and a quarter each! And 3 standard Gala's, can you believe the size of those Fuji's! I wish I would have taken a pic of the cabbages there, they were absolutely HUGE! Haven't seen anything so big since I was a kid.

 

A sign at one of my jobs, they have to tell people how a locked door works 😳
