(CNN)Sawyer Sweeten grew up before the eyes of millions as a child star on the endearing family sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond." Early Thursday he committed suicide, his sister Madylin Sweeten said in a statement.

He was 19.

I really dislike these types of posts. we get too much of Hollywood happenings as news. That isn't news that is of any value in my estimation. The news industry is headed down the starstruck route, and the whole entertainment world is disgusting.

Do you really want to know about Bruce Jenner changing his gender? I mean, who really cares what the Kardashions say, do, wear, whatever! Just shows that their publicist is doing the job he/she gets paid to do.

(I apologize for my little rant, but my daughter and I were voicing these same things on the phone awhile go.     :shrugs: )

MizPeg, I completely agree that most "Hollywood" news is worthless but I understand why someone would share the sad news of a young man killing himself. It just demonstrates how sad things are for people that don't know Jehovah and how much we all wish the young man had picked up a Bible instead of a gun.

CAUTION: The comments above may contain personal opinion, speculation, inaccurate information, sarcasm, wit, satire or humor, let the reader use discernment...:D

I agree about Bruce... No matter how much a man tries to look like a woman. He still has that shape in torso. Look at the shape of his chin/jawline.. You cant hide that.

I read last night about this boy. So sad. Poor parents what they must be going through.

Every time we watch the news I say to my husband.."you would think they could find more interesting news"..but then the thought comes to mind..Jehovah's Witnesses are to the forefront these days with all the advertising of JW.ORG and the carts, assemblies, conventions, construction projects, etc....Everywhere they look for news around the world..up pops JW.ORG! So other than natural disasters..space exploration, etc....they rarely report on us..except something bad...(not never..just rarely)..well, Jehovah will be the main topic soon!

Bob..it's funny..this is the 2nd post..different thread..my post follows yours! HeHe..just funny!

Otoh, this forum *is* entitled 'In the News.' I agree that the amount of celebrity reporting we get from the news media is excessive, and celebrities (and the world in general) are only getting more degraded by the day. It has been that way for a long time now.

If it upsets you, the best thing to do is simply not read/watch/listen to it. At least, that is what I do.

Live long and prosper. 🖖🏻

I read bout it on here! Never follow that type of reporting, as their publicist write the copy and send it off to the newswitre, hoping it will catch someone's fancy.

What is so sad about these stars killing themselves, is that the "hope" we have might save their lives. If they knew, but once those souls get into entertainments clutches, the poor guys/galls are actually isolated, due to danger from crackpots. Why else are they given bodyguards, 24/7?

I too am not interested in Bruce Jenner's claim to now being a woman. Why? This:

Jehovah made male and female. Period. Yes, there are cases where, dued to imperfection, someone is born with both male and female genitals, then the decision has to be made which gender is the child really.

So let's say, only because I'm female, that after observing the child that the child is female. So now the operation. You see, I've always thought that for a child to choose dolls, pretty things over trucks and little racing cars were a socialization process. I was wrong! While Jehovah certainly is not responsible for little girls choosing dolls and later wanting perfume as they grew up, etc, what I learned was all of the behaviors that makes us male and female is inborn! In other words, we're made to want dolls or trucks! Talk about shocked! Yours truly here was so shocked by that revelation I thought I was electrocuted!

Anyway, back to Bruce. He can have all the surgeries his money can buy. He can have all the hormones his money can buy. He can go on all the talk shows his fame will allow. He can declare he's always been a woman his delusioned brain will allow him to think. But he has been, is now, and always will be a MAN! How come? It's how he was made...he can't change his brain! It's circuited to think and act like a man!

Wow Pauline, a simple blood test? I didn't know that. The common practice was too cut, usually at birth. Now they're saying, and this to me is so much better, is to wait until the child is older and he or she will let you know what gender they are by their behavior. It was then I learned that choosing dolls or trucks was inborn, not something taught.

It's not like we're talking about what celebrity is popular and what they're wearing. This is about a boy who killed himself. Whether he was famous or not, it's a very tragic story. I'm not into celebrity topics either, and I usually avoid them. But something like this people talk about, even at the door. So please, no fighting on a thread about suicide.

It's okay. I'm an organization nut and the resident "off-topic" and "you posted that in the wrong forum" Nazi when I am not on haitus from JWTalk, lol! It's my OCD.

Bruce Jenner and the Hermaphrodites (that sounds like a band name, lol) can have their own topic. We're an equal opportunity forum around here :P

Dear Brother Bob, thanks for trying to show me the ropes. I  have to learn to check to see if I'm off topic before I hit 'post.' Don't go on hiatus. What I lack in structure, I make up for with my

dis-organization.  I really have to keep working on that. Thanks to all who have been patient with my meanderings. Sometimes, it's all tributary and no stream.  :( YS, pauline

When it's a big star, I understand. For example, the loss of Robin Williams was certainly a point of discussion.

I don't know who this was, nor have I ever seen Everybody Loves Raymond.

EveryBody loves Raymond is like a spin of what happens in reality.

I have a friend who married a Beautiful Italian family. Also friends.

but my friend was frustrated because the inlaws lived accross the RD. & were over every other day. Similar to Raymonds family.

Its an Ok show.

But its always dealing & coping with Rays inlaws.

The parents are a little overbearing.

I would not be inclined to post anything about Bruce Jenner!  Do not even know much about him.

I do know that it is indeed sad to see a teenager take their life!  It makes me want to reach out

even more to younger ones in the ministry - because sometimes my thought is...they are

carefree and do not have time to listen to this and that!  But...just maybe!!! that one time

is all that one needs is some encouragement from feeling hopeless and lost!

Just yesterday approaching a young man at the bus stop!  he had ear plugs and I just

show the article on "Is the End Near"?  I was prepared for him to not even look!  He did

take it and replied "Oh Cool." took it and was reading it!  I thanked Jehovah for that!

That's great, Cyre!

And think about, too, of all the stress young people have today. The media says they have to be perfect, some parents are never there or are abusive, and despite a rise in population there is less people to talk to them and listen.

Bob, I think I was probably off topic too in bringing up Bruce, and et cetera. It's just that certain things makes my antennas go up and when it does, I will admit it's pretty hard to bring them back down. But I'll try. Sorry.

After getting to know the close relationship between twins, I found this story sad for several reasons. One, the increasing number of young ones feeling as if their lives are over before they fully embrace adulthood is a growing problem. Locally, I know more than a handful of youths that grew up in and around the truth who committed suicide. They are as vulnerable as non witnesses like this young man. Stories like this always make me wonder how I could improve my preaching skills to help both kids considering this and their families after the fact.

Second, my heart goes out to the family and the twin simply because I know the truth can help them with their grief. Being a celebrity doesn't protect folks from the basic needs in life and instances like this demonstrate that fact. I liked the show he was on as baby so I think that's why it was announced in the media.
