I can agree that the closeness of Niagara and Buffalo is quite short and that it could fit the expression"a few feet". But, to me, it seemed as though the comment was that Warwick was that close, not Buffalo

 

Looking at it from my perspective, I do not consider myself as a "stone-throw" or "a few feet" from Atlanta or Miami even though, not only am I halfway between them, they are about the same distance from me that Niagara is from Warwick.
