Paul, Apostle of Christ Movie

Recommended Posts

I've seen it popping up in my Facebook news feed but haven't bothered clicking on it yet.

I look forward to seeing a trailer for it. I'm personally not opposed to watching "Christian" movies, although I usually cringe at how cheesy and inaccurate it is when I do :D

I'm just starting to watch the movie... just 10 min in... interesting

I'll be interested in your final review.  I love Jim Caviezel in films... very good eyes and intensity for Bible characters, especially.

I wish it was somewhere to rent online rather than needing to purchase outright.  But if you think it's good... I might just jump for it!

Like you I will wait for streaming services, but It stands a strong chance of being a good movie. Here is what a  religious commentator had to say about it ‘Paul, Apostle of Christ’ Is Compelling but Flawed'. We know how good their judgement is!:D

I read the review and I think it was a good one (although I didn't see the movie)

I just watched the Samson movie on Netflix because my father told me it was very accurate.  The movie starts and within the first 2 minutes, I'm already yelling at the screen.  5 minutes in, I realize the only way I will enjoy this thing is if I have fun keeping a tally of all the inaccuracies.  This list got so long that I chose to think of it as a comedy, and then the ending made me yell at the screen one final time as it named King David as the first king of the Israelites!!!  "What happened to Saul?!?!" is all the could be heard from my room.

When it was over I walked over to my dad and told him he needs to read the book of Judges again as well as the lookup Nazirites in Insight of the scriptures.

We watched this movie a couple months ago. I have to say it surprised me positively. I'm not going to say it's accurate, because it's not. Besides, it tries to teach some lessons that are completely out of place, such as "why can't Israelites and Philistines live together in peace?"

But I was afraid it would only be kind of a Rambo movie and that the only thing in common with the Bible story would be a very strong guy named Samson. That is not the case. The movie contains every episode mentioned in the Bible about Samson. They have tried to connect those episodes with uneven success.

Certainly not a great movie but at least a movie that can be watched, IMO.

I enjoyed the film, it's just that I was told it was accurate.  If this was a powerpoint presentation it would have been spot on.  Like you said, they "connect those episodes with uneven success".  The fictional additions and adaptations really irked me.  Philistines trying to wield "the power of a god".  🙄

Plus I really like Nazirites, so everytime he said, "I cannot touch dead bodies"  I would be like,  "actually you could, it was the other Nazirites that couldn't"

What stood out to me and the thought it left me with is how much the early Christians suffered, and how strong their faith was.

It made me wonder if I could have been used as a human candle or faced those lions.

But they did and are an example of what’s possible with Jehovah’s holy spirit.

One small crack doesn't mean you are broken; it means that you were put to the test and didn't fall apart..
