Seems to be a shooting an hour ago in a Christchurch Hospital as well ... some reports saying as many as 37 dead, but I would like to see more facts to back that up.

Schools, in fact, the whole city of Christchurch is on lock-down and the NZ Islamic population are being told not to go into any mosque in New Zealand until further notice.

 

Our member - Dalbyj is safe, and so far as we can ascertain so are brothers and sisters, but with this latest unconfirmed shooting in a hospital which is more indiscriminate that may change and if it does then it will be updated.

 

All our love to all the families involved ... this is just heartbreaking.

This is in my city .. it feels so unreal right now. I don't think there was any shooting in any hospital, but the mosque on Deans ave is very close to the major public hospital so there may have been some confused reports from nearby neighbours.

 

My parents work in the health industry but not at the hospital (about 5km away from it, and from one of the shooting locations), and they have just been released from lockdown about an hour ago (approximately 5 hours after the shootings began). Schools were let out of lockdown about half an hour before my parents were. 

 

The police and media are being very cautious about announcing the death toll and a lot of other information.  Breaking news right now says that 40 are dead. One of the shooters live-streamed it to facebook, and beforehand he published a 'manifesto' stating that he was born in Australia, to a lower class family and has had 'extreme views'. 

 

It's not real, it doesn't feel real right now.

Yes it is just so unbelievable for it to happen in your part of the world. May Jehovah comfort our brothers and sisters there. We don’t know what’s around the corner (before the end I mean).

One of the 'reasons' given for the shooting was to show that this kind of thing can happen anywhere in the world.

I guess they achieved their goal.

That’s really bad.   Who knows now what this tragedy will be followed by? Maybe other side will start causing similar problems.

Wasn’t caused by those who practise “religion of peace” 

It was more like islamophobic terrorist attack, hostile attack on Muslims.

Here in New Zealand, everyone is feeling down. This has never happened before (not to this degree) and has visibly shaken the country.

We found out the news while in the ministry around the same time, though we are from the north of New Zealand. The householders were really concerned- frightened even.

 

 

I have been flooded with texts, messages and posts about how people are feeling. Makes our preaching work and the message we bring so much more important. We will be in the city with the literature carts tomorrow morning. Very tragic what has happened.

It was a White Supremacy attack. We know, because it was livestreamed to Facebook and YouTube. (They have since taken it down).

 

The man who planned the Attack was apparently Australian, so there's another investigation going on over here. If he planned this in my country, he might have confederates.

 

Four have been arrested, three men, and one woman. The body count is now over 40. It's the biggest shooting in NZ for thirty years.

 

Christchurch is still trying to rebuild from the earthquake that levelled the place; so this is really kicking them when they're down. Brothers and Sisters in NZ, please know that your cousins here in Oz are thinking of you. I know we're all neutral on this forum, but the 'Spirit of the Anzacs' does extend somewhat to everyone in Australia.

The news in Australia say the man who live streamed the shooting was from Grafton NSW Australia.  He was an extremist, but the white supremacist extremist kind.  One of the independent politicians here was saying he did this because of all the Muslim migrants coming into NZ and Australia and he was told by the PM of Australia that what he said was disgusting.  They're saying it's Islamophobia.  Boy, how wicked is this system.  Neutral, neutral, neutral.

Four were in custody it seems one has been released as he/she was unrelated to the killings.

The killer who has been identified followed the mandate of the Norwegian Gunman. So he seems to be a white supremist.

 

This is the worst shooting in New Zealand - ever.

 A person from a hate group probably did this. Many race riots like Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921 was hidden 25 years after the event. Hwat is sad that the world don't understand that Satan rules the world 1 John 5:19 and can ignite any hate crime or crimes he want too. That is why we have the Bible to remind us what happened in the past, and what is happening now and in the future. Jehovah doesn't hide anything, mo matter what people thinks  he tells like it is.

My Brother had a stall at Fielding Field Days (in the North Island) across from them was the NZ Army stall, part way unmarked vehicles drove in and all the army personal boarded these vehicles ... which was highly unusual since vehicles are prohibited in the fair ground once the gates open. He thought it was strange, but then on his way home he learnt of the shooting ... so it seems ALL of New Zealand is on high alert.

 

Which is the wise course.
