A quote from the instagram of @stanley_jw (Who has a pretty good track record of being right about things.)

Today early morning, Korean Government have announced about the presidential special pardon(the presidential speicial reinstatement) for 1,879 conscientious objectors in Korea.
It means criminal records of more than 1,800 brothers who was released from prison after 2015 will be deleted and they can get public rights. So they can get a job without any legal limitations. .
It is the first presidential pardon for brothers in Korea

I wonder what will happen to those jailed before 2015. I hope their criminal records will also be wiped clean.

Here is a video of the news:

What I find perplexing (and maddening) is the following:

An "alternative" non-military service - lasting three years and taking place in prisons or "correctional facilities" - is being introduced next year.

It's as though the Korean government is thumbing their noses at the decision of the Supreme Court as well as the Korean brothers.  So, the "alternative" service will have them strictly doing prison work -- for twice as long than if they had served a prison sentence!   Is this not punitive for being a conscientious objector?

They will wonder why 10 Witnesses went in, but 20 came out.

The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole obligation of man. Ec 12:13

  • 2 months later...

Brother giving Canada branch visit talk now serves in South Korea.

The alternate service was supposed to be civilian and be in place by now but isn't.

The military still wants to control it  more to come from official website later although he told us some of what is happening or that military wants to happen.

One point he made ( I believe it was in a meeting part recently ) that some being harassed by prosecutors

about past things even years ago that we Did after learning the truth can come back and cause us serious problems,

like playing violent video games, looking at porn - even though brothers no longer doing this are still having their alt service denied and are facing prison.

Much more to come from JW news, I am sure.

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!
