Coronavirus has proven that if the government made it illegal to assemble in person for a religious function that we can legally comply with such a law. We have not met in person since March but still attend all our meetings. 

 

Likewise with the ministry. If the government made a law prohibiting us going door to door, we can legally comply.  We've not gone door to door since March yet my ministry is still going forward. 

 

A law prohibiting going door to door is not the same as a law prohibiting us from preaching. 

 

A law prohibiting us from public assembly is not the same as a law prohibiting us from receiving religious instruction.

And I think the fear-mongering and doomsaying by these health experts have long fallen on deaf ears now. You can enjoy life in a safe manner. This idea of "stay home or kill you neighbors" is clearly exaggerative, black and white thinking.

My apologies for not expressing my viewpoint which is just because other religious organizations want to publicly assemble doesn't mean we will follow suit. Nevertheless if this becomes a rallying cry by religious organizations encouraging all religions to publicly assemble we shall ignore that noise but follow the FDS whereever it goes...

Ontario, Canada recorded highest ever count in the province at 1855 new cases as released this morning. There are over 1000 in my area of London alone

and an older brother in our congregation who never goes out got it from someone - probably his wife.

How about numbers released for our brothers worldwide, 10s of thousands with lots of fatalities.

 

For months now, my wife and I have figured ( backed up by CDC just this week ) the the numbers reported are way too low

and that everywhere the gov'ts were opening up too soon.

 

Apparently the governing body has similar reservations thus the continued lock down of our facilities earth wide

and provisions for assemblies and conventions to be pre-recorded same as this year.

10s of thousands of brothers infected? I heard 5,000 fatalities..is there an updated number? I just learned that my grdaughter and her husband and 3 children are infected. They are in my congregation..

The 5,000 was from an early November 2020 letter read to congregations worldwide (I recall it was discussed somewhere in JWTalks).

Los Angeles County issues new stay-at-home order and bans all gatherings as Covid-19 cases surge

 

All public and private gatherings with people outside a single household will be prohibited for three weeks in Los Angeles County starting Monday to curb an unprecedented spread of coronavirus, the Department of Public Health announced in a news release.

County health officials are urging all residents to stay home as much as possible and to wear face coverings when they are outside, even when exercising at parks and beaches.

  While beaches, trails, and parks remain open, only gatherings from a single household will be allowed. Under the new order, playgrounds and cardrooms will also be closed.

According to the news release, the maximum occupancy for essential businesses will be reduced to 30%. Occupancy will be shrink to 20% for nonessential businesses, personal care services, and libraries. Businesses operating outdoors, including fitness centers, zoos, botanical gardens, and batting cages, will be reduced to 50% maximum capacity.

The new health order will be in effect until Dec. 20.

Sweden's approach to dealing with coronavirus was flawed from the start, according to Professor David Goldsmith, the lead author of a paper published by the UK's Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.

In it, Professor Goldsmith examined what went wrong with Sweden's policy and why its case mortality rate is about triple that of its Scandinavian neighbours.

And with a severe second wave presently moving through the country, he believes drastic measures need to be undertaken to control the spread.

"Sweden, unfortunately, have done the wrong thing in the wrong way," Professor Goldsmith told the ABC.

"They thought they were going to get this herd immunity nonsense."

 

Professor Goldsmith said Sweden should have seen it (second wave) coming from observing what was happening in the UK, France, Italy and Spain.

"What was it about the Swedes that would simply mean they could sit there and expect not to have a second wave of such severity?" he said.

 

Professor Goldsmith added it was "irresponsible" to allow more people to be infected.

"You've got to have a lockdown followed by good public health measures — testing, tracing, tracking, isolating, quarantine," he said.

"It's no good having a lockdown and then saying 'wow, we've done our job now, great — well done guys — now let's get back to work' unless you've got in place the things that will prevent the disease from relapsing.

"Unfortunately this particular [second] wave that they are in at the moment is really severe and I suspect they are going to have to get close to doing a national stay-at-home order."

Professor Bennett said the weaker the restrictions were, the stronger the testing and tracing systems needed to be.

However, there is a long list of exemptions, including healthcare operations, grocery stores and restaurants providing takeout or delivery service. Beaches, parks, trails, tennis courts and golf courses will also remain open.

Earlier on Wednesday, Garcetti delivered a COVID-19 response update, telling residents that “it’s time to hunker down” as COVID-19 cases continue to climb in the county. “Cancel everything,” he advised in his first public address in a week.

 

 I do believe a total shut down is going to happen throughout the US! Why, the vaccine is going to take too long to reach the population and many will not take it!
