Star Trek: Picard series

I'm not a Trekkie either but I loved watching Patrick Stewart. But in the official poster, I think he's got eclipsed by the dog 'Number One'. I would loved to see the interaction between the two. Huge draw!

I read an interview on some of the series details and apparently they used a pit bull as the dog because in real life he recently tried to adopt a rescued pit bull and was denied because the area he lives in does not allow those breeds of dogs.

This interview, I guess.

"Well, I am obsessed with pit bulls. What a dog, and how ill-used they have been, appalling used," he explained. "In England, they're a banned breed. I adopted my first pit bull and we already were excited about the thought of taking her back to England, and we couldn't do it. They won't be let in the country. I even talked to the British Embassy in Washington about it and they said, 'There's nothing we can do.'

"I'm now part of a campaign working in the UK to get this legislation changed because they are the most sensitive, the most loving, the most giving, the most affectionate creatures that you could ever possibly hope to meet."

I thought from the back, the dog looked like a bull dog. Yikes! I'm scared of pit bulls.

I have enjoyed most thing Star Trek ... from the very first airing of TOS - however, as much as I would like to see this series, I do not have the PAY SERVICE to get it.

Perhaps, if it ever airs on the US Netflix I will get to see it - or, if CBS decides to show it on something I can get without paying extra

I've watched the first episode and enjoyed it. The second episode airs today.

Number One was a winner too. In Australia we have 2 categories of Put Bulls ie the larger 'American' and the smaller English ones - often called 'Staffies'.

But we do not crop the ears here. That is frowned upon (as is docking tails).

Number One is a good solid specimen. And his typical relaxed spread on the floor with his back legs going straight out. Classic. He's a good actor!

Back on topic, show had plenty action and puzzles to solve. Some 'flashbacks' to see familiar faces.

However, the interview I saw on TV recently bad another famous Star Trek character as well (Voyager series), so the 2 never worked together. I expect them to meet in episode 2...I'll find out today... The ending of Ep 1 sets the scene for it.

Live long and Prosper

Cuteness can be quite draining on the Number One. He needs a rest.

Content Advisory on IMDB:

Is this reliable?

Those who have already viewed this, please advise before I watch whether this is acceptable? Especially any 'F' bombs.

Violence & Gore

  • Intense graphic violence from the first episode onward. All of it is shown onscreen and includes violent beatings, stabbings, people being shot and blown up. Pools of blood seep out of exit wounds. Very brutal by the standards of Star Trek.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Tonally, this is the darkest Star Trek series so far. The violence and foul language are on the same level of an R-rated film.

The above is an extremely hard post to read in "Dark Mode" ... when the text is "Pasted" instead of "Pasted and Plain Text" it comes out as white text on white background

This is what I see:

I cannot say that I have seen every episode of all the various branches of Star Trek, but I was very surprised (but more disappointed) they dropped the f-bomb in Ep 2. It is uncalled for.
It seems nowadays it's necessary for script writers to include it so they seem up-to-date...

This is what I see:

When the text is pasted as Plain Text it loses the formatting and many times the formatting is critical to the intent of the content so the default pasting option is set for Pasted instead of Pasted as Plain Text.

I suggest that you simply switch modes to read the comment.

I am starting to live in dread of the reboots, or reunion series. Some shows are perfect as they are; and finding out the 'old gang' reunited for one last job usually gives them an unhappy ending. The heroes walk off into the sunset; and then a reunion series tells you they broke up six months later. The bad guy is defeated; and then we find out they somehow won anyway.

Don't get me wrong; some sequels are excellent; but they do preclude the idea of a happy ending, or there's no challenge for the next round.

I'm glad someone mentioned the f words. That was a huge turn off for me and David too. Star Trek used to be a family friendly show.

Very true.
I was so surprised to hear the fowl in episode 2, almost had to hit rewind because I couldn’t believe it was actually on Star Trek.

No filth & fowl in episode 3 so hopefully was just a one-off.

I was disappointed too, watching original Star Trek series ...instead (still have not seen all episodes)
