WE GOT SUNSHINE!

After the morning fog burned off. Typical afternoon sun with partial clouds.:)

It's still bad in my neighborhood. I'm so grateful it's cool enough to keep my windows shut... but the smokey air is still horrible. I have a headache every night, scratchy eyes and throat every morning since Thursday.

I long for some air that doesn't smell like *anything *!  😖🤧

The air has been bad, but today, it actually got so we could go outdoors without that mask. Pale blue sky, for a bit. It’s not so bad for us, but I know tragedy abounds. This is horrible. Lots of prayers to be safe, and, yes, endure.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

Here is the fire that is causing us to wear masks outside, for the most part.

If you look closely and find the Trinity  River, we live at the very edge of the Hoopa Reservation, and the Trinity River. Actually, the intersection Where the Trinity River becomes the Klamath River.
That fire is touching the reservation next to us. Hoopa. We are on the Yurok Reservation.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

Be assured that all the friends are accounted for and are being taken care of.

You can make a DIY air filter using a box fan and a furnace filter! There are lots of examples on you tube.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but I heard that you can purify the air but putting a cup of vinegar in a pot and filling the rest with water and letting that simmer on the stove.

I'll have to try that. Anything helps I guess.

Now not so much smoke as stifling low pressure and humidity. So hard to breathe in this warm heavy air! Man move me to the desert!

This is one of the simplest steps I have ever tried, and I’ve used it many times. Take a small bowl, fill it about half way with vinegar. Add a wadded up paper towel to the bowl and place it in any room where you have noticeable smells or odors.

Although the vinegar may have a strong smell initially, you will quickly find that the vinegar and paper towels will soak up bad odors and help freshen up the room.

Despite what some are saying in the media ,according to this story , it seems that a great many of these fires are being caused by people, in this instance 58 fires in a day which could not be attributed to lightening strikes . In fact more than a dozen people have been caught setting fires.  Some homeless, some arguably accidental, some clearly intentional. So very sad.

Dozens of wildfires have been burning their way through swathes of the US West Coast over the last month, killing more than 30 people and forcing tens of thousands from their homes.

Firefighter dies battling wildfire sparked by gender reveal

A firefighter died battling a wildfire in California that officials said was sparked by a device used to reveal a baby's gender.

The death happened Thursday in the San Bernardino National Forest as crews battled the El Dorado Fire, the U.S. Forest Service said in a statement.

The fire erupted earlier this month from a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device used by a couple to reveal their baby’s gender, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, said.

What on earth is a device used to reveal a baby's gender? 🤔

Usually any device used ( but doesn't have to be explosive ) with either a blue ( for a boy ) or a pink (girl ) colored powder inside. Last year, so I was told by my wife ( I wasn't home ) , a man on the next street over but his property line is beside me, set off an extremely loud gender reveal for his daughter, it shook the entire neighborhood, the police and bomb squad showed up to investigate. Fortunate for him he had connections with the county law department and got off with a " don't do it again" . Could also be balloons or inside of a cake or anything the "reveals the color representing what the babies gender will be.

This is the one that started the fire-

  • 2 weeks later...

Friends,  I have housing available for a displaced family.

My COBE has already passed the information along to the brothers who keep a database of emergency housing in their disaster relief assignment.

But it can't hurt to make the forum family aware. Someone may know someone who has a need.

A new fire started in Napa county a couple of days ago and there are evacuations in the Napa, Sonoma, St Helena area. Our area is smokey again due to the Glass fire. Some well known wineries have been affected. One of my favorite wines come from the Howell Mountain appellation and that area is on fire..😟
