Heart attacks - prevention, care and recovery

Recommended Posts

A friend's mother in her 70's, living in Canada suffered a heart attack last month. A lot of people here in this equatorial country suffer from strokes. My late mother suffered a stroke and chose to be bed ridden for more than a decade. It was a good thing, I have an capable Indonesian lady to look after her as well as do the work around the house. Paid here USD120 per month then, 2 decades ago. She lives with us and I called 'Ibu' or mother.

After a first heart attack, most people go on to live a long, productive life. However, around 20 percent of patients age 45 and older will have another heart attack within five years of their first.

Make preventing another heart attack your first priority. Here are 5 things you can do:

1. Participate in cardiac rehabilitation. Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program designed to help you recover after a heart attack. You should have received a referral to cardiac rehab when you were discharged from the hospital – if you didn’t, ask your doctor about it. Learn more about cardiac rehab.

2.  Get support. It’s normal to feel scared, overwhelmed or confused after a heart attack. Getting support from loved ones or from people who have also experienced a heart attack can help you cope. Connect with other heart attack survivors and caregivers through our* Support Network.

Anyone with Heart disease should read Dr Esselstyn's "Prevent and Reverse heart disease" book it is fantastic and lays out the facts, the reasons why so many get heart problems in the modern world and how to reverse the problem and cure it. Reading the case studies is an eye opener.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Br. Steve, I think I'll have to read it myself. Having high cholesterol and taking 1/2 tablet of the statin medicine. I thought I could avoid taking statins because it interferes with the mitochondria in the cells. I started taking metformin and statin this year. I'm in my late 60's

I'm also on two different statin medications that I started taking this year, but I take a liquid CoQ10 enzyme to counter their effect on the mitochondria. The brand I use is Qunol and it helps prevent muscle cramps and joint pain.

My 86 year old sister in law has been suffering from dementia for more than a decade. She has been on statins for an even longer time.

Statins inhibit the proper functioning of the body at a cellular level. By blocking LDL ‘bad’ cholesterol, statins also block essential nutrients such as CoQ10, beta carotene and vitamin E from reaching the mitochondria of the cells. CoQ10 is essential for a healthy heart, and cholesterol itself is key for brain function and hormonal balance, along with other system-wide processes.

The documentary Statin Nation: The Great Cholesterol Cover Up presents a great deal of research supporting the hypothesis that lower LDL cholesterol does not lower the risk of heart disease. In fact, it creates many additional problems.

Altitude and Heart Attacks
◆ Researchers in New Mexico have discovered that men living at higher altitudes have fewer heart attacks. Scientists are not certain why, but suggest that one reason may be that living at high altitudes keeps blood pressure down, and high blood pressure can lead to heart attacks. Another theory is that men may not completely adjust to the thinner mountain air, so that daily activities “represent greater exercise than when undertaken at lower altitudes.” Also difficult to explain is the fact that the higher altitudes made no difference in the rate of women’s heart attacks.

Energy: oat bran is good for / helps control blood sugar levels, healthy bowel function, prevent blood sugar spikes, provide relief for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), relieve constipation, support healthy bowels

Longevity: oat bran is good for / helps combat chronic diseases, combat free radicals, detoxification, fight and prevent cancer, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, reduce inflammation, reduce the risk of heart disease

I absolutely love oat bran, I add it to my hot cereal in the morning (it fills me up and I'm diabetic, not too serious though). It can also be added to cold food.  I just have to be careful that I don't eat too much at one go, especially if I hadn't eaten it for some time. I don't want my digestive system to be overwhelmed.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/eye-floaters/symptoms-causes/syc-20372346

When to see a doctor

Contact an eye specialist immediately if you notice:

  • Many more eye floaters than usual
  • A sudden onset of new floaters
  • Flashes of light in the same eye as the floaters

These painless symptoms could be caused by a retinal tear, with or without a retinal detachment — a sight-threatening condition that requires immediate attention.

Quote

Cause(s)

Eye surgeries and eye medications. Certain medications that are injected into the vitreous can cause air bubbles to form. These bubbles are seen as shadows until your eye absorbs them. Certain vitreoretinal surgeries add silicone oil bubbles into the vitreous that can also be seen as floaters.

A decade ago, I went for laser treatment for facial pigmentation. The so called skin specialist didn't use protection goggles for my eyes and the next day I had floaters and flashes of light in my eyes. I went back to see the old well known doctor and he outright dismissed the problems in my eyes and gave me a whole bunch of pills. I should have gone to see a eye specialist immediately. Really worried about my eyes. Going to see one as soon as possible. Got a litany of appointments in the next few days. 21st December (3D mammogram)  24th dental appointment for root canal and 30th the much awaited ENT appt.

  • 11 months later...

Nobel laureate Linus Pauling states that cardiovascular disease is mainly caused by a deficiency of vitamin c and lysine. Also states that the natural removal of artery plaque can easily and rapidly be done by taking vitamin c and lysine at proper levels. Something of the order of two level teaspoons of vit c (that's about 8 grams) and maybe one level teaspoon of lysine (that's 4 grams). Listen to the linked video for specifics. Space out the vit c during the day or you will get the trots. Dr. Pauling is 91 years old in the linked video. He talks about supplemental lysine and vit c easily dissolving clogged arteries starting at 27:00 of video but the whole video is important. Notice that he uses no notes or teleprompter for his hour long presentation.
