Those birds really are singing "Oh sweet Jah up above, up above", if I've interpreted correctly  .

 

Very pretty song, as we only have the introduced "house sparrow", which can only chirp "Jesus".  I hand reared a baby sparrow that fell out of the nest and it loved our family, following us like a dog. Cute!

I have always thought that cats and dogs look either sad or mad..the only time they don't is when they are young. I think maybe it's that they're just not bright-eyed with wonder anymore...

No, she's always got that anxious expression. When I'm patting her she seems to smile, but she's always been anxious for my affection and generous in giving back. She's always by my side, nuzzling or licking me back. Very affectionate.

My little Jack Russell/ chihuahua cross has a relatively unusual habit. If she doesn't know you she will bark (typical). To let you know she has accepted you, she will raise her back leg and give you a pat. Yup, that's her love pats, or leg-a-love. I met a woman whose dog does exactly the same affectionate gesture. This should be in the bad joke thread, but someone recently asked my husb about our dogs' breeds. He said, "Well the little one is half Jack Daniels."

My Jack-Chi, "Baby girl," after her surgery, last June.  That's her favorite leg to pat with, but not the reason for her procedure.
