He is not even in Russia.  He just reports from official sources. brother Christian notified us about this on page 56 of this forum.  Not sure of the id#.  If you just scroll through you will find it.

The Russian Police knows JW very well. They know brothers would not cause any riot. The police might think the other citizens could cause potential harm to brothers after the verdict is announce. So it might be for the protection of brothers OR the police has other (not good) plans.

I'm sure the Russian Police do but I would hazard a guess that the order for the police precence has come from further up the ladder than the local police station .. maybe from those who don't know us so well.
