I can remember by distress when our organization told us that the Watchtower Library (on CD) would only work on Windows 95.  I was happy with the DOS version.  Time and progress marches on.

Yes time marches on. I had totally forgotten the DOS version.

Just this week, my JW Library on my tablet will not download anything. Same on my wifes tablet. Both running android 7. A7 is supposed to be supported. Anyone else have this problem. I have tried restarting.

Someone said delete a file and redownload, and it will fix it. I tried something less useful, 1970 yearbook, but did not work.

After months (or years?) of delay, I upgraded all 4 of my Windows devices to Windows 11.  Some were easy others were more difficult.  When I got them to update, I spent an hour or so makeing them look like and act like Windows 10 (as much as humanly possible).  The only app I used other than Windows 11 was Startdock 11 to make my start and taskbar operate like Win 10.

So if you come to my house and look at my computers you might easily imagine you are looking at Windows 10.  It makes me feel comfortable.

If you are using Windows 10 computer, and you have a 7th Generation or earlier "i" core series CPU, eg i5 or i7, Windows 11 will not be installable on your computer, as these old CPU's do not have the processing power to cope with Windows 11. Some may have done it, but it is very poor performance.

I have still have a Windows 7 32bit i5 2nd Gen laptop (Dell e6520) operatng at work, as it has older software that a few of our clients still use, and I don't have any issues. I have its sister laptop (bought at the same time) which has been upgraded to Win10 64bit and more RAM and still the 2nd Gen i5 and this is my home laptop for Zoom meetings. These are my favorite laptops and I still love their design and feel and they are now 13 years old!

As long as you are using a good antivirus and security softwate, and don't go to dodgy sites, have no personal sensitive information, you should be right.

Try downloading the jwpub file that you want directly from jw.org website, then open that file on you device by select JWL to open the file and the publication will be then be installed into JWL.

Yes, that worked for jwpub files. Long way to go around it.

Trying to download videos crashes the app.

If it does get impossible to use, it is "possible" to upgrade to Android 10 I believe.

On my work laptop, Dell Latitude i5 8th Gen running Win10 OS, it looks like Win7 using "Classic Shell" software.

I never liked the Win10 user interface, and I really detest Win11 user interface.

My WRL updated today.

I forgot when I updated last, so this could be old news. I could not even search and find the WTL thread.

So I posted it here. lol

English Update 2405

A new update is now available for download.

It contains an English research library from 1950 to 2025.

"2405" - I was guessing it might even have been in May...
Hence my comment about 'old news!' So thanks for confirming that.
But it also says 1950-2025, and the 2025 WT only just came out...
And I wonder about the "August" issue...
I'm really confused. But that's not important.
But I mainly use JWL, so no permanent damage.

The 2025 CA Programs were included in the update hence 2025.

The update was released back in end of July but the URL has been updated to August after the migration to jw-cdn.org server.

There has not been WTL updates in 3 months. That’s unusual. And also JW Library for Windows hasn’t been updated either.

It's pretty normal for WTLIB not to have updates for more than 3 months. But JWLB isn't, considering with the update already made on Android and iOS.

This usually happens where there is a monumental update coming, that they need a longer time period before they can deploy the update. So, we should raise the expectation by about 0.1% on a possible major change coming to JWLB for Windows. 😅😂

Perhaps changing the UI might be one factor because the app changed the UI from Windows 8 to 10 several years ago, but the merging of JWLB and JWLBSL is pretty obvious one of the reasons for the update delay too.

But I hope they better give us an option to change the second display option for JWLB. 😂

The designation 2405 refers to the 5th update in 2024.  Our WTL updates every 2-3  months.  The Midweek Meeting Workbook covers 2 months at a time.  So there are 6 issuses in 12 months.  The update includes the latest Watchtowers and a new Workbook so 2 months is the earliest.

The next update should be in a week or two and will cover the last of 2024 publications and any beginning pubs for 2025. Here are the current publications in the 2405 update.

Hey Garry,

I've just read your issue and it’s the same issue as my mum, who also has an A7. I can only download via the website as Pablo suggested, but like you no videos download at all.

We are going to have to look at buying a new tablet for her. I guess there’s no other choice because I don’t know how to update in another way.

I bought mine as "new old stock" 5 years ago. Top of the range Samsung Tab S2. I dont like the new 16:9 tablets and wont touch Apple. (Too much you can't do) It is still fast now. This constant upgrading of stuff is called planned obscolescence.

Look at Windows 11 & how many perfectly good pc's go to the tip now.

It is possible to upgrade to Android 10, but difficult.

OnePlus Pad Go is a nice looking tablet in 4:3 ratio. - oneplusmobile.com.au

There is also Vivo tablets in 4:3 also. Don't know where to get them.

I am the opposite, I much prefer the 16:9 layout, but both of my Samsung tablets (Tab S 8.4" and Active3) are a 16:10 layout, which is pretty close to 16:9, but I don't like the 4:3 ratio aspect. I think that is because I prefer to use my tablet on the side and not upright.

Whilst your Tab S2 Samsung supported Android OS is v7 (Nougat), you may have to go to XDA forums and perhaps use an unoffical update to get your device up to Android 10.
