This online course is for me a big thing to advance the preaching work I just wonder why they didn’t wait for the annual meeting to release it. It’ just in less of 3 months

Maybe they have other things

May I ask how you would go about using it in the preaching work?

One small crack doesn't mean you are broken; it means that you were put to the test and didn't fall apart..

I plan to show it to my RVs and mention it any time I find someone home out in service.

That's how I thought it could be used when I first saw it..not a formal study, but sort of a lead in to a doorstop study to a formal study...

It would also be good to use as an incentive to show what they can learn in a short amount of time on the jw.site..it really has a lot of potential..

Br. Douglas, I think that to be neutral is to show NO support for ANY political entity.  To be aware that ALL of them are equally guilty is not a loss of neutrality but a show of support for the government of God by Christ.  So to say they are responsible for suffering is simply a statement of fact not a choosing of sides on the Earthly political scene.  We are not supporting Anarchy, we support the kingdom.

Showing NO support for ANY political entity is proper. In addition, we don't take a stand against those entities.

April '16 WT pg 27-31 ¶9 states: "When presenting the Kingdom message, avoid either praising or criticizing . . . a political party or leader".

That's the meaning of neutral; neither for nor against.

This new tool, the Online Bible Study, is a big deal. They released it with no advance teasers. Didn't save it for the Annual Meeting. As one post said, maybe because time is of the essence.

So, this is my take on it;  I feel this is a new direction and we will see more of the same. More candor. I think this is a turn toward the Judgment Message.

'Bad Rulership ' is blunt and to the point. As you said, it is a statement of fact. I can imagine those in government sitting up and taking notice. They could very well ask "Since when have JW's  called us out like that before"?

I'm any case, it jumped out at me!  Exciting time indeed !!!

And our October study Watchtower has several articles that discuss our digital material and offerings.  The description of a carpenter's toolbox (Jesus) and our modern day electronic "toolbox" they compared it to "power tools" instead of manual ones.  In a study article no less.  It will be a month of exciting Weekend discussions.

On special metropolitan carts this morning we had an awesome conversation with a man who had just started reading the Bible, but is just picking random pages of the Bible to read and isn’t fully understanding what he is reading. (Acts 8:26-31) So we explained our free Bible study program, placed a Teach Us book with him, and I got to show him the online Bible study lessons on jw.org as something he can start right away while he decides whether he wants a study with a personal instructor. After the conversation, he walked off with jw.org open on his phone, ready to try out one of the lessons :) Thank you, Jehovah!!

It's been over a week, I wonder if/when they will add more lessons...

This is a great way to introduce the new online study lesson even when at the doors if we see even a hint of interest!

We don't have much internet service out here in the rural areas.  We can't bring the "online" study up on our tablets at the door.  It wouldn't be much of a campaign for us unless it was a tract explaining the use of the feature.

We could ask a householder (who is an RV or study) if we could demonstrate it using their wifi connection but if we are already studying with them it loses some of the "anonymous" attraction to the "online" study.

Can I suggest you look at http://codiumlabs.com/ios/offline-pages/ I use Offline Pages to save certain pages of jw.org for use in the ministry. For example setting the app to download 45 pages plus media to a link depth of 4 gives me all the Bible study section unit one with it’s videos allowing for a good demonstration of the course. It works exactly like it does when online except tapping a scripture link doesn’t work at that link depth. Depending on your needs you could download each unit separately.

Only on IPad and iPhone ?

I don’t use Android so you’ll have to check the Android apps store for an app to save web pages offline. I’m sure there will be a similar app to the iPad one.

Thank you Br. David.  I do have the "offline pages" installed on my service tablet.  I will have to reload now to get a current view to include the Bible Study portion. I hardly ever get to use it due to the limited number of "at-home" calls.  Thanks for the reminder.  A few with the Iphone probably use it as a live internet connection.

Exactly. We did one lesson for our family worship, and even as advanced students (of course) I can see the learning power behind these lessons. Apparently, the organization had this in the works for some time, as evidence by the videos produced a year or so ago they're using.

I would like to create a telephone witnessing 'script' for our group to use.

We mostly get the answering machine.  We have used a different 'script' for different campaigns and invitations.  Even though everyone puts it in their words...we start out with a written 'script' and friends can go from there.

Any thoughts or examples you think would be good to use?

Yes, If you look up WT On-Line Library under the heading “Telephone Witnessing” you will find much helpful guidance on this, one of the references is to a Kingdom Ministry article Jan 2010 pages 5 and 6 ( km 1/10 5-6 ) including some sample scripts you could use.

There are 6 references under the subheading “what to say” , incidentally some of these could also be used for intercoms on door-entry systems.

I love that expression "toolbox" 2 Tim 3:16 ..." Completely equipped for every good work"...imagine getting a gift of a complete toolbox...but in order to use it effectively, we first have to find out what it contains and how to use some of the specialist tools...so with us..we need to examine each item carefully so as to be able to use it effectively...I think we"ll be hearing a LOT more about the on-line teaching aid in the days to come, maybe a special door drop campaign to every home so no-one can say they didn't know. ( just thinking out loud ) 😎

Thanks Bro Martin...yes, I think we will have a campaign also to get it to each home...and a new board to advertise it on the Cart.  These will be very helpful...so I hope they do provide these.  I use the telephone witnessing every week for 2 hours at the hall.

I had the thought of using the Online Bible Study Lessons on the phone.  So I always write out a 'script' and let others use it, if they want.  I had started writing one for this...and didn't finish.  I felt like it needed a little creative flare to what I had written.  So I thought I'd come on here real quick and see if anyone had an idea that I hadn't thought of.  I will have to take some time when I can spend working on it.  It takes me longer than most...since my stroke.  I want it to sound inviting.  I may have time Monday.  But thanks for your good thoughts and comments.
