I just recently played "Century: Spice Road" with someone for the first time and I thought it was great. Anyone have any opinions about their favorite board games they'd like to share?

I had never heard of that game.  I looked it up and there looks like are a lot of components to it.  Is it easy to learn?

It was easy to learn. I've only played it twice but it was really fun and after the first few rounds it all made sense. There are only four actions you can do a turn, so it's not too complex.

Cribbage. It uses a real board...

I honestly don't think I've ever played that.

When I saw the Title "Tabletop Games" - my first thought was Image result for ping pong

As for "board games" - I like image.jpeg.e23d68e0e37887e195c1f64eef1f6d2f.jpeg

For card games - I like Image result for canasta card game

Haha, I guess that is a "tabletop" game :)

Canasta - or should I say "Hand and Foot" - is my wife's favorite card game. I personally find it to be a long, boring ride to exhaustion. 😜

Recently, both of us have been playing "Scuttle" a lot. Pretty fun.

Formula De, Billabong, Bohnanza, Basari, Through the Desert... still trying to figure out rules for Puerto Rico.

Billabong is an amazing game. (don't know if they still sell it though)

That picture looks really familiar. I'm almost positive I've played that as a child.

I've never heard of the others. Only Puerto Rico which I've seen has great ratings. Do you have a personal favorite out of that list?

I LOVE Catan. It's not a hit with my wife though, so shelling out $50 for the first one (not to mention the extra $30+ for expansions) seems a hard sell xD

No favorites..I love variety...I have and played other board-games apart from those listed.

But I would say Bohnanza is addictive ..LOL

I also have Airlines by AbacusSpiele and Eurorails both engaging games.

I think I have 20 boardgames

Airlines Europe still can be purchased ..(I did not know that)

After just looking at the board, Airline seems similar to "Ticket to Ride", which I've heard is fun.

We used to play "Resurrection" and it didn't cost anything

We would use pennies - one for each person in the game

You take one of the pennies and put an "X" on it with a pencil. Then, put all the pennies in a bowl. Each person selects a penny from the bowl. The person with the "X" is the "Resurrector".

Everybody then looks around at each other person. The person with the X "winks" at a person while that person is looking at them. They try to do this without anyone else seeing them do it.

If you get winked at, you toss your penny back n the bowl and announce, "I'v been resurrected".

If you see the person wink at someone else, you identify them. If you are right and they have the penny with the "X", you win that round - however, if you call someone out and they do NOT have the "X", YOU are out of that round.

We didn't keep score ... it was just for fun.

For 'tabletop games, I used to love playing ping pong.(that looks really weird written out..'ping pong'lol)

I guess table tennis is a way to say it....

My family is pretty big into cribbage,  it never really enthused me, I don't even remember the last time I played.

I would play checkers, or chess, given the opportunity.

There is a strategy type game that I enjoyed a lot in the past, it was somewhat like 'Stratego' but I don't recall the name.  It used a folding cardboard playing surface and a deck of cards. I wish I could recall,  it is a fun game..(found it...'Sequence' )

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequence_(game)

Denise and I played 'Bananagram' a bit when we lived in Iowa, we have the game here but haven't played in a while...

Cribbage was my mom and dad’s favorite card game. Cousins (husband/wife) would come over and they’d play game after game.

They quit coming when mom put up a no smoking sign because of dad’s asthma.

Mom didn’t mind at all cause her language would make a sailor turn red.

I just don't understand Cribbage but would love to learn that game.  We love playing any card game here.  Most of the games listed I haven't heard of, so I am going to spend some time seeing if I can find out about them.  Thanks for the recommendations!

Some Bible themed board games I can recommend:

Settlers of Canaan. A rebadged version of Settlers of Catan. Flavour text on cards is Biblically accurate.

Kingdom of Solomon. A worker placement game that also involves resource management. Highly recommended.

Kings of Israel. A cooperative game where each player is a prophet attempting to cleanse sin from the ten tribe kingdom of Israel. Each turn covers the reign of a king. Similar game mechanics to Pandemic.

My favourite non Biblical board game is Keyflower.

It is a game that one must develop strategy to win. It is a game for all ages and really is a lot of fun when one learns it and it's not hard to learn.  The roll of the dice determines the cards you get. buy settlements, convert settlements to cities, build roads between cities and or settlements, buy boats, put settlements and cities on islands. trade or buy the cards you need to buy what you need to progress in the game.  Sometimes kids catch on to the strategy quicker than adults and that can be frustrating.
