Our cat likes to sit on top of things..

image.thumb.png.acaa8d8455a23005c8f713e505de84f7.png

anything... just give him 2 seconds first.. then up on top.

even a sheet of paper in the middle of the floor... it differentiates the rest of the flooring/carpet.. He'll sit on that preferably.

We left the over door open once and put a towel on it to dry out.. next thing.....

@hatcheckgirl   I like how they tie a tiny kerchief around the neck of the cat especially the black cat in the 1st pic. Adds a certain glamour to a gorgeous cat.

@Alan  We left the oven door open once and put a towel on it to dry out.. next thing.....

Mr. Sooty like most cats like the 'high places' He thinks the oven door is a sort of a pull-down bed. What other day beds will your cat think of next? Mine thinks it's cool to pose on top of my new car!

Pet Murphy Bed. Pull-down pet bed who saves space - this is a real need for us who are overcrowded in our cottages..

Trying to give dogs more 'spotlight'.

We humans should learn to stretch like the cats.

https://www.livescience.com/54480-why-do-cats-stretch.html

<If there were an Olympic event for stretching, cats would win gold. They're constantly stretching their muscles, likely for many of the same reasons that people do.

The main reasons? It feels good and increases blood flow

Cats sleep between 12 and 16 hours a day, about twice as much as people do. When humans sleep, the brain paralyzes most of the body's muscles to prevent people from acting out their dreams. The same thing happens to cats during catnaps, which prevents the cat from sleepwalking off the sofa or wherever it's snoozing.

Once the cat wakes up, the stretching begins.

"Cats stretch to get their muscles moving again after periods of inactivity, whether they've been sitting still or sleeping,"

When a cat is sleeping or relaxed, its blood pressure drops. The same is true for people. Stretching can help to reverse that.

"As you stretch, it activates all of your muscles and increases your blood pressure, which increases the amount of blood flowing to the muscles and also to the brain," "This helps wake you up and make you more alert."

As the muscles start moving with each stretch, they also flush out the toxins and waste byproducts that build up during periods of inactivity. For instance, carbon dioxide and lactic acid can accumulate in a cat's body, but stretching can increase blood and lymph circulation, which helps to remove the toxins.

What's more, stretching readies the muscles for activity. If a mouse scurries by — or, let's be honest, a spider if we're talking about house cats — the cat will be prepared to pounce if he or she has already stretched its muscles.

"It's good for them to be ready to go at any instant.". "Whether it's a snake, a feather or something on TV, as the case may be with cats.>

Unusual setting and mind-boggling camera angle. Does your princess sleep on many layers of mattresses? :D You must have used a drone.

Heart felt.

We had something delivered today.. opened the box and took the smaller box out...

I guess it took at least 1.5 secs before our cat got in it.. took him a good 6 secs to get upright again in it as, (the packing was rigid) he went in head first.   We wondered how on earth was he going to get upright. If you placed him in it, as he looks in this photo, it would be a snug fit!!!!

But he did it.

Picture perfect! This is the best picture so far of Master Sooty. The pale pink coloured paper wrappings really enhanced the whole set up.

You, my brother, have an eye for beauty. Beautifully captured. Sooty is becoming your muse.

I presume the parcel was for your wife and maybe something from Crabtree and Evelyn. Perfume

Loved your blog, Sister Chrissy. Thank you for the English version. Loved your photos that also included an orange Maine Coon. Is that the brand of cat biscuits you feed Romeo? I'm sure he loved fresh fish from the fishmonger.

Sorry for the late reply...

Romeo eats a special Maine Coon food (brand: Royal Canin) mixed with some other "normal" cat food for a little variety 😊

That would have been close to something she'd buy :)

Ironically the parcel contained his special food!

Cats and boxes.. Never ceases to amaze me how they just love the compact boxes.. They squeeze themselves in them. @coony77 cat its obviously no different. I thought she'd got hold of some of my own photos.  They're so similar.

I thought exactly the same as I saw your photo!  Not only the scenes but also the cats look similar at first sight...

By the way - this is my funniest "squeezing-into-a-box-picture" of Romeo:

Those long-haired cats would need to be brushed every day to prevent the fur from being matted and entangled. I once was given an English short-haired cat. Her owner died and the owners being superstitious requested a token gift from me. A few years later, the cat developed diabetes and had to be put down.

You are right, sister Anne. That's why Romeo has an appointment at a special "cat hairdresser" every 6-8 weeks. She is really professional and brushes his fur with the right equipment. Besides, Romeo would never let us do it! We would need a doctor afterwards because of the scratches 😂

I saw your photo first and thought how did our cat get there..!

You have a beautiful cat there!

Ours has a variety of places he likes to settle, around the house, and just decides to change from one to another for no reason we can detect. :)

Ours likes to be high up.. Is Romeo the same.

This is our third identical looking white cat (only two were actually a breed) .. Though I have actually seen some fabulous colour variations of the breed.

I like ragdolls too but never had one.

@Alan  Since Sooty is allowed outdoors, how do you protect your cat from parasites? Frontline/Advantage? I used to sprinkle lightly Diatomaceous Earth on my dog's sleeping quarters. For my present cats, I used Frontline spray.

Haha...my husband just said "maybe they are brothers"...

Romeo also likes to be high up, he's often looking for the highest point to jump on. But he is not an outdoor cat, he stays inside our apartment. His "outside world" is our balcony, where he loves to sit - yes, on the highest point - and watch people walking by...

We have a special "cat safety net" around our balcony which all cat owners here know. But sometimes people don't know what it is for. The funniest thing I heard once was when a little girl went by with her grandmother. She asked "Grandma, why do they have a net there?" And the answer was: "I don't know...maybe they have a little monkey?"

Almost right :lol1:

Thanks, Br. Bek for that hilarious video about sleeping cats. My toy Manchester Terrier/chihuahua mix would also twitch her body while sleeping. It is usually her legs that start to move vigorously. Her day bed is just in front of the sofa and I would watch transfixed as she goes through the motions of whatever she is dreaming of. She has bitten 3 young children or 2 adults men. (Never sent her to training school, that's why) Dangerous lady, I would have to walk her on a leash but sometimes late at night when there is no one around in the field in front, I let her run free. Such a joy to see her dashing here and there. 3 walks a day, mind you. Oh, she demands it since we make it a habit. Her previous owner ( for 1 year) kept her in a big cage and never took her for walks. Such wonderful memories of my late pet ( for 16 short wonderful years) I don't have an affinity for cats although I now have a stray black cat who didn't mind exchanging cuddles for treats.

That subject matter for tomorrow's Watchtower is so depressing, I thought I might take my mind off it for a while. Dreaming of my dearly departed. I'm told I'm a pretty restless sleeper myself.
