It it reminds me how differently Jesus approached the crowds. Admittedly, he did appear to be hurt by the woman pulling him.

Poor old man. He is in his mid 80s, appointed to do an unenviable and thankless job with a punishing schedule of useless commitments. Of course, he will get angry.

Am I the only one who thought it was the pope who was in the wrong? I get being yanked, but could he have not tried to reason with her? Or simply ask her kindly to let go? Gently remove her hand? It didn't look like she was using any crushing grip or strength on his hand from my perspective.. He didn't give her a chance and just slapped her whilst scowling and just walked off. She may have been in desperate need of comfort. Unless she was just being rude and demanding of attention, don't know the context as I can't understand what she's saying.

I’m with you on that.  The look of disgust and anger in his face when he turned away, oh my.  I could not help but think of Jesus and the woman with the flow of blood.  He felt the power go out of him when she touched him.  Also, She being unclean and by law could not touch anyone, yet Jesus treated her with such loving kindness.

That was the contrast I thought as well, how different it was when Jesus dealt with the crowd. The Pope is infallible. He is old and getting frail. He reacted with maybe anger, maybe pain. He was tired. It’s a human reaction when you’re annoyed, or you’re unexpectedly had your arm yanked (just recovering from a shoulder injury myself). And maybe he was over it for that day.  In any case, he gave a lovely talk the next day about violence against women, and apologised.

Our great King does it better, always kind, always patient, always approachable.

This man, Pope or not, is an imperfect human being who is old and was clearly yanked backwards quite hard to his surprise.

I think most imperfect people any age would have been startled and reacted in some way. Its not as if he turned round and decked her lol. He slapped her hand.

Explanation of the term decked. Just in case.

(Decked = to get punched ususally in the face once and fall to the floor)

I don't think a big grown man like him would get hurt by a small woman's touching and pulling.

Nurzat, are you an 83yr old arthritic man?

I'm 65, and kinda unstable*. If someone yanked me like that I would fall.

*physically, for those of you who may be unsure....you know who you are!  lol...😂

No, I am not. :)  I did not know the Pope had arthritis. He still looks quite young and sturdy for his age though.

I do feel sorry for him. He has been put under pressure over the incident and forced to apologise for losing his temper.

Surprisingly, I learnt that he is not liked by all Catholics. There are some among his fellow believers who were "delighted" when they heard about his unbecoming reaction to the Chinese woman's pulling. So it seems it is a tough job to be a Pope.

I don’t care who you are. When you are his age, and, set yourself up in whatever “important” position, and you expose yourself to the multitudes, you deserve what you get.
If he is frail, he should  sequester himself, and do the wave thing from the balcony.
Honestly, I was shocked by his actions. Well, maybe not shocked, but, as most of you responded, I took the opportunity to tell my husband what kind of person Jesus was. He went out there, mixed among the throngs, and showed his compassion more then once.
What is what just became more evident.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

The Netflix Original “The Two Popes” is an interesting sketch of who this man is.

We were talking about this the other day. As you said, interesting.
