Here is an interesting picture story of the spread in the US. It took a little while to load on my phone, but as you swipe the screen, the dots move and grow.

The ap news site has 8 images of this. This is too crazy close during the pandemic!

My goodness! Have people completely forgotten we’re still in the middle of a pandemic!
Plus the tons of rubbish left behind was a total lack of respect for the area & for the people that live there!

I kinda agree with you. Although I've been to scared to even leave my immediate area since the end of March, I actually feel a bit giddy when I see people ******* the virus and going out en masse like this because eventually that herd immunity of which you speak might be realized.

(Mod Note: I am abusing my authority and edited a word that I personally dont feel should be posted. 🤣)

Only for those that survive. Those that don't get no immunity. Who's willing to sacrifice their lives for the majority? 😉

I keep thinking about who in the congregation I'm willing to do without to boost herd immunity.

Maybe me for making dumb comments on forums. 🤪

Only joking but its what came to mind.

My wife seems to have had it twice. First she was the sickest ever from December 25th for around a month. Then two weeks after I got it she went sick again (on the Memorial of all days). Now the second lasted less than the first and she's never been tested but I'm less sure about developing immunity than I was. Basically I don't know and neither does anyone else.

I hope you guys get better and stay better quickly!!

There is a huge amount of fear on this forum. It is understandable but also ... come on guys .... we are so, so close to Jehovah's Kingdom. Imagine the time that will be. The very first day we are in the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ. Wow! What a time that will be. I have changed my view in how I look at things. I have had a very difficult time in 2020. But, I realised that by focusing not on when Jehovah's day is coming and immersing myself in building my relationship with Jehovah (with personal study) and the preaching work gives me so much fulfilment and really leaves me refreshed, positive and I don't even have to try and be an upbuilding influence to other brothers and sisters. Because I am genuinely happy. I have no headspace left for Satan and his negativity.....its his destruction not mine ...Jehovah and the brothers want us to be positive. So, come on see the Paradise that is just ahead. The GT will be very hard  -but a lot of us are also excited for the GT - because things in the world are not going to get any better. We need to face the future with confidence - because we have Jehovah. As Jesus said, 'all things are possible with Jehovah.'

The GB update #4 was so timely!

From NY Times:

Only 1 in 10 U.S. coronavirus cases are likely to have been identified, C.D.C. chief says.

The number of Americans who have been infected with the coronavirus is most likely about 10 times higher than the 2.3 million cases that have been reported, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday.

“We probably recognized about 10 percent of the outbreak,” Dr. Robert Redfield said on a call with reporters.

He added that between 5 percent and 8 percent of Americans have been infected to date.

Thanks Sister Dawn, sorry if I came across negative, we're both ... Staggering to be honest, but I can work so I'm "enriched for generosity" and we can all engage in letter writing and all meetings so we're doing ok by last days standards.

My point was in reply to the idea of "Herd Immunity", the FDS doesn't seem to believe in that as a goal and that noone knows how often you can get sick their view makes sense. As Brother Cook said though 'This will have a beginning, a middle and an end'. Come its end we'll get fully active again either in regular ministry in this system or new work in the Paradise.

That new is not as bad as it appears to be. That means we are closer to the potential herd immunity than we realize. Immunity, natural or by vaccine, eradicates viruses.

Yes, it is understandable to have fears and I see it too among friends. Also, getting on ZOOM. Is not so rosy either. When we meet together we can hug, shake hands, express our deepest feelings, express our problems, and kiss one another. That what Jehovah want us to do.  ZOOM lacks all what I mention and it is causing problems. If the brothers don't see this, oh well, that is another problem.

When you say that Zoom is causing problems, what exactly do you mean?

Basically I mean problems does arrive by using ZOOM. It is not the Brothers and neither ZOOM fault. It is part of life. My friends express openly when they talk to others personally. You can do this on ZOOM.

I can see how some would feel left out or left behind just using zoom. Many times it’s the same people talking to each other and since only one person can talk at a time, it makes things difficult. For example if two families are zooming together and the husbands are talking, it’s not like the wives or kids can be in separate areas having their own conversations.  All must sit and listen to who is talking.
Even using the breakout rooms can be awkward. Some aren’t inclined to have much conversation with those outside their usual circle. So your breakout room could be people saying a simple hello and goodbye without any in depth talk.

I have taken to sending cards and postcards to different ones in the hall. I mention something I appreciate about them. I’m surprised but I’ve gotten quite a few cards in return doing that.

We can’t all reach out to the same extent but we should all be making an effort to send little texts or letters or phone calls to keep in touch.  It doesn’t have to be a novel.  Notice the ones who always leave zoom right after the meeting or sit there waiting for someone to notice them and say hello. And if someone reaches out to you, respond!

That’s how we are going to get through these strange times.

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

That photo makes me thing of our little park by Lake Superior after July 4.
O the city puts out trash cans but humans are too lazy to walk up to one to put their trash. Makes me sick.

What they don’t tell you about surviving COVID-19

Recovered' doesn't mean healthy again    June 21, 2020

ICU nurse Sherie Antoinette has seen the serious cases first hand.

The lucky ones — if you can call them that — recover, but not in the sense that their lives are back to normal. For some, the damage is permanent. Their organs will never fully heal.

“When they say ’recovered,’ they don’t tell you that that means you may need a lung transplant,” Antoinette wrote in a Twitter post. “Or that you may come back after discharge with a massive heart attack or stroke, because COVID makes your blood thick as hell. Or that you may have to be on oxygen for the rest of your life.”

Antoinette’s tweet prompted a flurry of responses

I'm currently in the hospital after having a heart attack caused by clotting that resulted from COVID 19. I have a stent in my heart and need to wear a heart monitoring vest at all times. Now I face months of recovery including physical and occupational therapy. I'm only 29.

—Dan

I went into acute kidney failure and needed dialysis. I now have asthma, chronic cough and an irregular heartbeat. I have conditions I never had before, plus I’m wiped all the time. I hope this gets better, but you [Sherie] are on the money. And, mine was considered a low-moderate case.   — Stephanie McCarroll

20-year veteran nurse in NYC via Dr. Dee Knight

These are my observations of hospitalized patients:

1.  Everybody is so swollen their skin has blisters and is so tight it looks like it’s about to burst, from head to heel. And skin so dry peeling and flaky that to slather Vaseline on every shift is almost necessary — all over.

Daydream -

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.
