Let’s Imagine For a While…

Let’s imagine for a while that some time after the grand resurrection, it is announced that an interview series will be made available, live or prerecorded, with faithful ones of old. Who would you especially like to listen to? What do you imagine they will say?

Perhaps you might imagine listening to a complicated person, such as King David. Can you imagine his now youthful red curls flying in the wind as he relates what he really thought when he ran towards Goliath with just a few stones?

Or perhaps you would like to listen to his friend Jonathan. He might be able to give a different aspect of David’s stories. Or he might talk about what it was really like to grow up with a father who left Jehovah, the king Saul. And still make the right choices! Come to think of it, so many brave young witnesses today go through similar experiences….

Or perhaps you would like to listen to Sarah. Maybe she laughs a little and covers her face in her hands, saying to herself: “This is nuts! Me?” Maybe she will tell you what Abraham was really like, or she might invite Hagar to talk about their relationship and how their stories shaped the history of Israel and surrounding nations.

Want to give it a go? Let’s hear it….

Abraham.

I would like to hear him say, give a consistent summary of what his family was like, what he felt with Sarah back in Ur when they lived together with worshipers of false gods, how it felt afterwards to be a wanderer in the desert, the adventures in the Egypt and the fears of losing a wife.

Then how really difficult it was for him to listen to his wife, if he was ready for it, if he was ready to let his son go to the desert and how he dealt with this situation in front of Sarah.

After that, how he handled the delivery of his son over the mountain, what he was thinking about the resurrection or the feeling of discouragement he had at that moment, how his faith was at that moment of Isaac's sacrifice.

Ultimately understanding how he handled Sara's death and then having someone else in his life, transitioning from another married life.

Abraham's married life was intense and speculative, it would be interesting for him to address these points as much as possible.

I think it would be interesting to hear Joseph talk about the special privilege  he had

of raising Jehovah God's Son.

There are so many experiences Joseph could share about what Jesus was like as a young boy,

besides just the one where he remained behind in Jerusalem and about scared his parents half to death.

Or, what about John the Baptist? He could tell us about his cousin, Jesus, from another point of view, and also about his supernatural drive by the holy spirit to clear a way for the Messiah and baptise as many as possible, and ultimately ending up in jail.

I would like to hear Gideon, especially if he would explain just exactly what he did with the men of Sucʹcoth - when he "put them through an experience"

What about David + Jonathan + Saul, the 3 of them, around a table, with the interviewer.

Maybe a setting outside, under olive trees on the mount est of Jerusalem in the background, a sunny weather.

They could share about their experiences, laugh about the past when they were even enemies. That could be very emotional.

Also, on a huge convention, let's all gather in a large valley, all the millions of us. And put Abraham on the stage in the middle and have Jesus our king himself do the interview and start with :

Raise your eyes, please, and look from the place where you are, to the north and south, east and west... [And see that] your offspring is like the dust particles of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust particles of the earth, then your offspring could be counted

Maybe add Uriah to that group for the discussion ...

And Goliath? That would be a little bit too much

Yes, well, why not? I have always imagined Goliath, one of the giant men of Gath, as a huge man with some kind of illness affecting his size being used as a pawn to drum up fear in Israel. When he was killed, it mind of broke the morale of the entire army. So why not hear his story? How come he is ended up there on the battle field? What was it like to serve in the Philistine army at that time?

Yeah, but the difference is:

  • David and both knew Saul was trying to kill David
  • Jonathan knew Salu was trying to kill David
  • Goliath knew David had come to kill him
  • Uriah will have no idea until he is resurrected that David had him killed
  • Uriah did not know about David and Bathsheba

I'd love to hear from one of Abel's younger brothers.  I'd love to hear their account of an older and wiser Abel.  Abel the teacher.  That's a nice thought.  We could even possibly hear about a young Noah, or Enoch.  All from someone else's perspective.  And yes, I'd love to hear how the angels and the spinning blade were viewed by mankind.  Were they like the royal guards in London?  They were disciplined enough not to engage?  Did fallen angels and nephilim act like trolls?  Trying to get a reaction?  Or, did they offer advice, or even praise to faithful ones like Abel and Enoch?

Too much or too many around the table, that's what I meant :D

  • 1 month later...

Ever since Br Noumair gave his talk about Rizpah, I’ve thought about her and dealing with the injustice she experienced. Her life in general was remarkable. Going from being the concubine to a king, to guarding your dead sons’ bodies for up to six months…what a change in circumstances.

I think we will learn just as much from those not named or hardly mentioned as we do from those whose lives we know.

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

I loved that talk so much. It came out during a time my son was df'd. I used to sit in the back and save a seat next to me for if he ever came to the meeting. It was my way of keeping the vultures off his body.

He came back and sat next to me eventually. Rizpah is my heroine 🥲💙
