It certainly is!

https://www.findeasy.in/world-population-by-religion/

As of 2022, Christianity was by far the world’s largest religion, with an estimated 2.38 billion adherents, nearly a third (31.1%) of all 7.66 billion people on Earth. Islam was second, with 1.9 billion adherents, or 24.9% of the global population.

A 1989 Awake cited the Britannica Book of the Year figures for the world's population that claim to believe in Abraham: 32.9% Christian and 17.2% Muslim.

Another Awake cited a poll in France that listed Muslim as the 2nd largest religion after Catholicism and that was a few years back.

The announcement the other day is that the world's population is now 8 billion.  It was just about 12 years ago that the population reached 7 billion.

Churchianity?  I like that!

The thing about the violence today is that these people are religious, they would call themselves 'Christians'.  The white supremacist groups in the US think that God is on their side when they commit violent acts against others.

Some congregations and schools had more than one abusive priest there at the same time. “The sexual abuse was so pervasive that victims were  reporting sexual abuse to priests who were perpetrators,” the filing states. One congregation was assigned 11 abusers over 40 years.

“Reading the report in its entirety made me physically ill,” Frosh said. “We may be looking at the tip of the iceberg, but it’s a very big tip.”

Im sorry it´s in portuguese... if can google translate it´s interesting: https://zap.aeiou.pt/igreja-catolica-bispo-desmente-cardeal-patriarca-525389

Basicaly many portuguese are very upset with the sex scandals and also about the tax exemptions. They want the church to pay for the taxes. Lose their high place. come down.

The mountain gave birth to a mouse. This is the impression given by the recent positions of the Catholic Church on the conclusions of the Independent Commission for the Study of Child Sexual Abuse in the Church. Some are already calling for the revision of the Concordat, particularly in order to put an end to the ‘paradisiacal tax system’.

The State must enter the Church's "battleground", in particular to "ensure the end of enclosed spaces that are dangerous for children" and to "investigate the individual abusers and the Church collectively". It is the PS deputy, Isabel Moreira, who defends it in an opinion article on the Expresso.

The socialist speaks of a "moral misery that calls for a State" and says that "it is time to say enough to this infamous, dangerous and insistent Church in a perverse sexual morality". It therefore maintains that the Concordat must be revised.

The Concordat is a document signed between the Portuguese State and the Holy See which recognizes "the legal personality of the Catholic Church and various rights", notably those of "worship, magisterium and ministry". In addition, it recognizes "the jurisdiction of the Church in ecclesiastical matters" and grants it "a special tax regime".
