Earthquakes In One Place After Another...

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) Emergency teams worked to provide relief in Haiti on Sunday after a magnitude 5.9 earthquake killed 11 people and left 135 injured.

The country’s civil protection agency said that at least seven people died in the coastal city of Port-de-Paix and three people died in the nearby community of Gros-Morne in the province of Artibonite. It said that the injured were being treated at medical centers in the northern part of the country.

Secretary of State for Communications Eddy Jackson Alexis said a preliminary report indicated that 11 people had died.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake hit at 8:11 p.m. Saturday night (001 GMT) and was centered 12 miles (19 kilometers) northwest of Port-de-Paix, which is about 136 miles (219 kilometers) from the capital of Port-au-Prince. The quake was 7.3 miles (11.7 kilometers) below the surface.

It was felt lightly in the capital, as well as in the neighboring Dominican Republic and in eastern Cuba.

The civil protection agency issued a statement saying that some houses were destroyed in Port-de-Paix, Gros Morne, Chansolme and Turtle Island. Among the structures damaged was the Saint-Michel church in Plaisance.

Rescue workers reported the collapse of part of a hospital in Gros-Morne and an auditorium as the quake hit on a rainy evening. They also reported damage at the police station in Port-de-Paix.

Parliamentarian Alcide Audne told The Associated Press that two of the deaths occurred in the auditorium.

Haiti President Jovenel Moise indicated in his Twitter account Sunday that civil protection brigades were working to clear debris and help victims. He also said the government had sent water and food.

Impoverished Haiti, where many live in tenuous circumstances, is especially vulnerable to earthquakes. A vastly larger magnitude 7.1 quake damaged much of the capital in 2010 and killed an estimated 300,000 people.

San Francisco's Bay Area transit tests earthquake alert system

By Stacy Chen Oct 8, 2018, 3:51 PM ET

https://abcnews.go.com/US/san-franciscos-bay-area-transit-tests-earthquake-alert/story?id=58363935

Commuters in the Bay Area should expect a delay this morning between 11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. PT as San Francisco-area trains will slow to 27 miles per hour for a system-wide test of an earthquake early-warning alert from the ShakeAlert program.

With at least seven significant earthquake faults lying beneath northern California's Bay Area, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) was one of the first organization to test ShakeAlert 1.0 -- and today’s demonstration mark the official release of an updated version, ShakeAlert 2.0, according to a BART press release

From someone's notes from Annual Meeting, there have been more earthquakes then one can count.  So there is an increase of Matthew 24 and Luke 21.  The recent earthquakes, hurricane's, tornado's and recently the organization has spent over $30 million dollars in relief work and repairs.   These were just a few of the sister's notes from Annual Meeting.  Meaning we are nearing the end of this system.

A SERIES of powerful earthquakes have rocked the Papua New Guinea island of New Britain and Indonesia’s Java and Bali islands, leaving three people dead.

The earthquake happened early Thursday when they were sleeping and the quake suddenly rocked so they didn’t have time to evacuate,” ...

There were a string of smaller tremors measuring up to 6.2 immediately before and after the main earthquake.

The magnitude 7.0 quake was followed by aftershocks of magnitude 5.7 and 5.9.

Just more than an hour later, a magnitude 6.3 quake hit further northeast on the island.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center initially warned hazardous tsunami waves were possible in coastal areas 300km from the epicentre.

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.

Horror in Indonesia: Emergency responder calls earthquake and tsunami aftermath ‘one of the worst' he's ever seen

October 14, 2018; 8:08 AM
Following the devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that rattled Indonesia in late September, the death toll has exceeded 2,000.
Search and rescue efforts came to an official end this week, despite aid organizations citing the need for ongoing support, particularly in Palu, a small Sulawesi Island city rocked hardest by the quake.

Two 6.6 quakes and one 6.5 all hit off the coast of Vancouver Island, Canada earlier this morning. (Monday, Oct. 22nd)

Dutchsinse had some interesting things to say about them, especially for residents of California:

An article explaining why the Mexico earthquake last year happened.  It's more than just plate subduction.  Interesting read, cause unfortunately as we know, it's bound to happen again.

Quake split a tectonic plate in two, and geologists are shaken

An intense temblor in Mexico was just the latest example of an enigmatic type of earthquake with highly destructive potential.

On September 7, 2017, a magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck southern Mexico, killing dozens and injuring hundreds. While earthquakes are common enough in the region, this powerful event wasn’t any run-of-the-mill tremor....

Wonder what Dutch thinks:

A.I. Is Helping Scientist Predict When and Where the Next Big Earthquake Will Be

Oct. 26, 2018

SAN FRANCISCO — Countless dollars and entire scientific careers have been dedicated to predicting where and when the next big earthquake will strike. But unlike weather forecasting, which has significantly improved with the use of better satellites and more powerful mathematical models, earthquake prediction has been marred by repeated failure...

A magnitude-5.4 earthquake has hit the Lake Muir area of Western Australia, about 330 kilometres from Perth, with residents across the state's south-west feeling its effects.

Just want to say, that’s extraordinary. We don’t normally get too many earthquakes, and not at 5.4. And the second one in 2 months.
