First G-4 Solar Storm in a Decade May 10&11&12

Recommended Posts

Was super cloudy and raining, so the only colorful lights outside were coming from my solar powered whirligig

 and dragonflies.

So I had to watch on YouTube, but it was very pretty.

My niece, who is in the Truth, took her three little girls out into the country to view Jehovah's light show.

The 11 May is still predicted to be G4, severe perhaps G5, extreme CME. So go out after dark and look out for it. Find a patch of sky, even if cloudy and take pictures with your phone camera, as it will show up amazingly. If you have better camera, go for it! After tonight, the storms will subside. So, last chance!

THE STORM IS NOT OVER: Last night's historic geomagnetic storm produced auroras as far south as the Florida Keys and Puerto Rico. The storm is subsiding now, but it is not over. At least one more significant CME is on the way, and it could push the storm back to severe or even extreme levels. Follow this developing story @ Spaceweather.com .

Im on the mainland and didn’t see anything, maybe too much light pollution?

Was reading this CNN article and it answered my question. Apparently if you capture an image with your phone it will show it if you’re not able to see it. Light pollution takes all the fun away.

Depending on the location, the auroras may not always be visible overhead, but keep an eye on the horizon, experts say, because they may create a colorful display there as well.

Even if auroras aren’t visible in the sky, experts at the center recommend taking images of the sky with your phone because the images may capture what you can’t see with the naked eye.

“A severe storm would mean that the aurora will likely be visible in southern Michigan,” said Michael Liemohn, a professor of climate and space sciences and engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, in a statement. “Get away from city lights to a place with clear skies and you should be able to see the green or red glow of aurora across the sky.”
