Brother Jackson s talk about the new understanding on Rev. 17:17 is the last talk 🙏🫶🥰

we have a lot to discuss with everyone in the congregation now 😘

The light is definitely getting brighter. From the year 1960, I have seen so many changes. This new clarification proves to me that Jehovah is allowing us to see what is so near at hand. Proof that our God, Jehovah is supporting us and is in control of what is soon to take place. Helps me not to fear the tribulation, Jehovah will protect all his people.

Nope. And in speaking of that new BJF. They even didn't release the trailer as well. which usually happens right after the annual meeting.

I liked Br. Jackson's comments in the 1st part of his talk.  He pleasantly chided us on our previous anticipation of the number of anointed dwindling in old age.  The picture of two old men with cane and walker being the last anointed was cute.  But it did bring out our misconception of the time of the end.

I remember as an 8 or 10 year old kid I tried to work out when Armagedon comes out of number of parts let’s

I like-wise remember in the late 60's and early 70's watching the number dip under 20,000, and get to around 12k.

I think we had assembled a few misconceptions like 1975, 1935 and our understanding of 'generation', all combined to fuel our conclusion.

I specifically remember a study article reviewing points that showed we were 'near the end'. One point was that the number of anointed ones was very low. As the sheep are judged on the basis of 'giving a drink' to Christ's brothers... (and the number is low), the end is nigh!

Today however, 'generation' has been revisited, and 47 year olds are appointed to the GB.

I enjoy the light getting brighter. My eyes will adjust. We are still on the right path with the right organisation.

The number of partakers continued to go down (with a few bumps) until 2003.

The lowest number I can find is 8,565 in 2003.

Worldwide Report 2003 Grand Totals

Memorial Partakers Worldwide:                         8,565

Peak of Publishers in Kingdom Service:    6,429,351

By 2009 we once again went over 10,000 partakers in the Memorial.

2009 Grand Totals

I have slightly misunderstood the previous view again. I did not realize or remember that Revelation 17:12-13 were applied to the last days. I always thought that it would mean the very end, that is during the GT

I don't want to make this a habit.

I believe the lowest in recent years was 8,524 in 2005

In some context:

2005 Memorial took place on Thursday 24 March 2005 with 8,524 partaking.

https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/202003447#h=6

A few months later on Thursday 1 September 2005, two new members - Geoffrey Jackson and Anthony Morris - where added to the Governing Body who would then number 12.

The following year, on Wednesday 8 March 2006, one month before the Memorial, Albert Schroeder finished his earthly course.

2006 Memorial took place on Wednesday 12 April 2006 with 8,578 partaking.

https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/202004449#h=5

On Tuesday 18 April 2006, six days following the Memorial, Daniel Sydlik finished his earthly course.

https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2007002#h=2

On Saturday 7 October 2006 the Annual Meeting took place - which likely announced the clarification to our belief about when the calling to the heavenly hope ceases (AKA previously 1935)

This clarification was then printed as a Question From Readers in the Watchtower 1 May 2007 - a magazine that would have been available in congregations worldwide shortly before that year's Memorial.....

2007 Memorial took place on Monday 2 April 2007 with 9,105 partaking.

I think it's interesting when some of us do that, that is not realise it is a new thought because that is what they thought before. I think it shows you are in tune with Jehovah in a humble way.

I'd like to understand better why did the number of partakers increase immediately after the announcement of a  new understanding regarding the heavenly calling of the anointed ones in 2006/7? As if some had held back. This is despite the fact that a large part of the remnant, who were still alive in 2007, including all current members of the Governing Body , have been anointed after 1935, which has sometimes been described as the last year to receive heavenly call, except for apostasy etc.

Many probably did hold back believing it wasn't possible. Like the members of the Great Crowd pre 1935 who felt like they did not fit but partook anyway.

It looks like the number of partakers peaks in the 1st century, in the resurgence in Russel's time, and pre-GT

... the mention of Brother Russell Kurzen...

I visited Brooklyn Bethel in the early eighties. Russell was our Tour Guide. He was very engaging, and we corresponded for many years after that. He would send local newspaper articles to me in Australia.

If I remember correct, a relative of his,  had his life story in one of our magazines.

I look forward to meeting him again one day.
