Since Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro took office last month, the country’s already decimated economy has not only floundered but also continued its neglect in providing people with the most basic goods: Milk, butter, coffee, cornmeal and even toothpaste have all been in short supply. And now toilet paper is the latest staple to become scarce.

Early this morning, Venezuela’s commerce minister Alejandro Fleming told the country to relax; the government plans to import 50 million rolls of toilet paper to make up for the 40 million-roll shortfall.

- This is a story NEAR and DEAR to my heart!!! May we NEVER have to deal with this  :lol1:

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Wards are sections or areas in a hospital where patients may be studied or cared for, ie maternity ward. So a monkey ward would be a floor where monkeys can be housed! :-)

Lynn was referring to an old department store called Montgomery Wards. I don't think they exist anymore---all I am aware of went out of business years ago

The store was much like Sears and dates back to 1872 but the mail order and department store become defunct in 2000.

Y'all realize this is publicly visible!!! Do you really want people knowing that JW's are human and enjoy a little "bathroom humor" at times! :lol1:  :lol2:

Bathrom humor? Hey, I never new there was anything but outhouses until after I was 6. I got very familiar with Sears, Monkey Wards and Spiegel as TP was a luxury we couldn't afford.   :wheelchair:

We had an outhouse until I was 6, too, but we must have been middle-class. We had real TP, but not the comfy toilet seat. Just a hole cut in the wooden bench. (How did I get into this conversation with you?)
