Depends on your perception of rude I guess :-)

IMHO, as public protests go, I would say he is pretty inoffensive and good natured.  Since when were hugs rude... :-)

I would go with - Shouting, musical instrument (especially DRUMS) and megaphones / amplifiers  - as a means to deliver your message in public as rude.

I have personally seen some witnesses who were asked by police to leave a public place, and I (silently) sided with the police. When the elders were informed, they sided with the police as well, and had a local needs talk on the subject.

The area was a store sidewalk with clearly visible 'no loitering or soliciting' signs, they never sought any sort of permission, they were set up directly in front of the doors causing issues for those with shopping carts, and the manager had previously asked them several times to move down the sidewalk away from the doors, which they refused. When the police arrived, they were threatened with trespassing charges, and told to vacate the premises entirely.

If the witnesses had simply moved out of the way as asked, we could have gained a very productive public witnessing spot, and potentially opened the way for more. Instead, by enforcing imaginary and nonexistent "rights", they got us blacklisted from every store and shopping center owned by that developer, which has (to my knowledge) affected three congregations so far.

What are they putting in the water over there? Are you sure you are going to the right hall? It should say Kingdom Hall outside... (I'm Joking) It seems like a nightmare area to live from the posts you make.

Quite right too.

Exactly my point. In both cases, the authorities didn't get involved because of the message, they got involved because of the illegal approach used by those spreading the message.

If this guy's actions were peaceful, along the same lines as how we're instructed to use the cart, then I'd agree that the reaction was overkill. But as things stand, his actions blocking pedestrians and screaming at them is in no possible way comparable to how we use the carts, and his actions have never been the subject of any fight taken on by Jehovah's Witnesses.

Most of the experiences involve only a handful of stubborn extremists, most of the hall really is sane.
