Just on the news right now, there's been a terrorist attack in Nice France- estimate 60 dead! A lorry drove into crowds.... Very sad

Some sites are saying over 70 dead...apparently the truck,  a fairly large one,  was running over people for a mile or so then the driver got out and started shooting. ..

Yes that seems to be the latest..sorry I'm fairly new to this so don't know how to include a news link! Anyone feel free to add... We're certainly living in critical times indeed.

Some reports say there are explosives in the truck but the driver was not able to detonate them as he was killed by police before he could. With all the people around, it would have been much worse.

Yes, I was telling Denise that too...

With a couple more people and grenades,  they could have tripled the killed and wounded.

I think there is a fairly low chance any of our people were involved,  it was a national fervor day and I think any Witnesses there would be staying away.

I didn't even look out the window 4 July,  Colfax has a fireworks event and I love fireworks but I didn't feel like it would be right to enjoy a show dedicated to a national holiday.

That's ok, sometimes not linking a source is a good thing.  There are some pretty bad pictures of this and its a kindness, IMHO, to not subject family to it inadvertently,  if all they wanted to do was read about it...

I don't like to recommend wordly news sources, and I think they should be looked at with a lot of caution.  Having said that, reddit has some good reports from people in the area ..

Be advised - if you go there, there is often profanity in the title page.

I saw bits and pieces of this right before my ride came to go to the house of our God.  It broke my heart, and am sick of it all.    Tonight in our Field Ministry part, from the Good News Brochure, there is another scripture used in there tonight, I think it goes well in here - Job 9:24.   "The earth has been handed over to the wicked."    I really feel that we are a small minority alive during the end of Satan's ruler ship.  My heart aches for those people who were there in Nice.  I went there twice in my lifetime and it's a very beautiful sea town.  I hope none of our brothers where there (not necessarily celebrating Bastile Day), some work there. Some may have been preaching in the area.  We won't know till we get clear reports.  I felt this like a stab from a knife, only because I was in that tiny sea town and had enjoyed my stay there.   The people are extremely friendly and helpful.  Some of them are our brothers and sister's who work behind the scenes in hotels along the beach stretch.   Its another terrorist attack.  I heard 80 dead and 100's wounded.  One day soon, all of us in here will wake up in the paradise and we will NEVER HEAR the sound of death rambling through.

The media here are backpedalling in order to do some damage control. The weapon and explosives were apparantly "fake". In fact, they are debating whether this was really a terror attack or just a "confused individual".

So don't worry y'all, just "fly and enjoy America's great destination spots."

As for me, I'm steering clear of any crowds apart from our conventions.

As far as we can do so, protect yourselves brothers and sisters.  Stay away from the tourist areas which seem to be the likely targets of terror threats and attacks.  We know we won't necessarily come through these hard times unscathed.  Some of us will be directly in the firing line, and we stand faithful with the resurrection hope in mind.  All of us are sickened, utterly sickened by what mad violence we are seeing regularly now.  Praying for those in Nice, for our brothers and sisters in Europe and elsewhere this evil next appears.  May Jehovah keep us firm and help us continue enduring.

People will become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory., But as these things start to occur, stand up straight and lift up your heads, because your deliverance is getting near.” - Luke 21:26 - 28

Stay away from tourist areas?  Yes, I suppose so if that is possible, but it isn't always and even Witnesses take holidays.   That strip of beach is extremely touristic, in fact  I walked down that very strip on holiday when I was there  two summers ago, it is a beautiful beach and the main beach front area in Nice with shops and restaurants and tourist attractions.  Bottom line is  we take reasonable measure to be secure, but these attacks have been in airports, schools, theatres, places of business, shops etc etc.  we cannot possibly avoid all such crowed areas all the time.

Granted, it's unlikely that Brothers and sisters would have been there celebrating Bastille day, but some of our friends work in services and shops, restaurants and other places and could have been present or walking home - time and unforseen occurance.  Further (not for Bastille night) but when there are large events,  the brothers set up Witness carts and tables to give a witnesss to tourists and others (not for Bastille day but other events such as Roland Garos tennise tournament here in France, possibly locastions along the tour de France, etc) so avoiding crowds at all times is not what we do.

Our confidence is in Jehovah, our lives are in His hands and I think as long as we take resonable measure and not expose ourselve unnecessarily to situations where we might be targets or were violence is likely to errupt, the rest is in Jehovah's hands.   My mother told me this morning she showed the video about the coming paradise blessings to a woman and the woman burst into tears.  People are so fearful of the future and we all need the kingdom so badly!

Please pray for us all here in France, we have a Special Convention in a few weeks in Paris and a national state of emergency would put those plans in jepoady.  Following the Paris attack all meetings and assemblies in Paris were cancelled for two weeks - we  so need the encouragement as France has had a hard time lately, so while we are spiritually strong and thriving, we are living in unpredicable times  and we don't know what measures the French government will roll out over the coming weeks.  Please remember us in your prayers and petitions on this matter.

Agapé to all, Let the kingdom come!!

I agree, we have to be doing our best in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.  We can't totally avoid what those monsters choose to do in the future.  I fondly remember myself in Nice along that promenade too, so I know it is very hard to keep away from tourist areas, or airports or where crowds would naturally congregate.  I am heartedly praying for you dear friends in France.  May Jehovah always keep you strong to bring comfort to those reeling from what is happening, and courage to keep faithful.  Sending my love too Rosie!

What a horrendous attack, one never ceases to amaze at the things that happens in this wicked system.

What things we will see in the future. Reminds me of Luke 21:

25 “Also, there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars,+ and on the earth anguish of nations not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea and its agitation. 26 People will become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of man+ coming in a cloud with power and great glory.+ 28 But as these things start to occur, stand up straight and lift up your heads, because your deliverance is getting near.”

May Jehovah give strength and comfort to the families and the brotherhood over there

I heard about that National State of Emergency on the news this morning.  I did not think

about the other meetings and conventions - definitely keeping you all in our prayers!

“And the earth came to be ruined in the sight of the true God and the earth became filled with violence.” “For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be.”—Genesis 6:11, 13; Matthew 24:37.
In Noah’s day, spirit sons of God who had made demons of themselves played a significant role in creating a world filled with violence. (Genesis 6:1-5) These wicked creatures can no longer materialize human bodies to influence mankind directly, as they did then. But today their indirect, invisible attacks are no less deadly.
Now living in the days of “the presence of the [glorified] Son of man,” Jesus Christ, we can expect the world to be bloodied by the same kind of violence. Really, we can see, as Jesus predicted, an “increasing of lawlessness.” (Matthew 24:12)

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

Holiday makers and Nice residents come to the spot where Mohammed Bouhlel died to dump rubbish and spit on the ground where he died.

Not very Nice, is it!

I don't know what to make of this. This particular attack broke my heart almost as much as 9/11 did. I can really understand the anger. But I don't recall this kind of thing ever having happened before. Look at the people in the video. It's all walks of life, all types of people, children and old.
