I live in Finland and there will be russian RC in Helsinki at the summer in Jäähalli. Maximum capasity is around 8000.

Do you know whether it is for brothers from Russia or for those living in Finland?

Well I doubt that there are gays in Chechnya. Anyway comparing JWs with gays is not a good thing in Russia. VERY FEW people will protect gays. I am afraid I can't explain it but believe me it doesn't sound good.

Sometimes human right abuses by a government to various groups of people are put together because those that speak out against the abuses are trying to be fair.

Gay Chechens report days of beatings and electro-shock torture at hands of Russian government-backed thugs

International community unites to decry persecution of LGBT citizens but Kremlin has so far echoed denials reported abuses took place

Of course I don't know but hope report about gay men is false. It is really hard to believe that there are alive gay men in Chechnya. They wanted to have gay parade in our city. And people wanted to beat them. Fortunately the parade was forbidden because any gay propaganda is forbidden. Those gay men in Chechnya must be really brave.

Russia doesn't like minorities.

Why would you want to beat someone just because they are different? If doesn't make sense. Then again, prosecuting peaceful people for sharing their beliefs doesn't make sense either.

Gay men and women exist everywhere. A former colleague said there's none in the country he came from. I said they are there, but they're probably not too keen to tell you if you threaten to hurt them. I'd rather have a gay couple as neighbours than a straight couple who wants to hurt the gay couple.

If they did so they would be drawing unnecessary attention from Government because they show they were against Russia's desire of man and woman not with gay and lesbian, sis Victoria :)

All glory and praises goes to Jehovah :)

I am sure the governing body will arrange Russian RC's  outside of Russia ... They will make sure that our brothers will be very well  fed. The surrounding countries are well aware of the issues, and it will be a black eye to the government to see that their citizens can only worship in a foreign land.

I did a quick research on jw.org and below are the following countries surrounding Russia that will be holding Russian-language conventions:

  • 26 RC's in  Ukraine 16 June to 18 Aug.
  • 1 RC  in Belarus 7 July
  • 1 RC  in Estonia 7 July
  • 1 RC  in Latvia 30 July
  • 1 RC  in Finland 23 June
  • 1 RC  in Lithuania 7 July
  • 2 RC  in Georgia 16 June & 23 June
  • 1 RC  in Poland 30 June

Jehovah will not forget his people! :bible2:

I think they all are for local brothers, not for us. And those countries are VERY FAR from my place, a week by train.

Will Trump Confront Renewed Religious Repression in Russia?

by Elizabeth A. ClarkMay 5, 2017 5:00 AM

Its Supreme Court bans Jehovah’s Witnesses, creating 170,000 prisoners of conscience.

On April 20, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation banned Jehovah’s Witnesses, a pacifist religious organization it designated “extremist.” The more than 170,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia can no longer meet without fear of jail, and all church properties will be confiscated. Russia has effectively outlawed an entire religion. President Trump should raise the ban with Putin and take other diplomatic action against it.

Don't know if this was posted:

UN rights experts urge Russia to drop Jehovah’s Witness lawsuit which threatens religious freedom

GENEVA (4 April 2017) – Moves by the Russian Government to ban the activities of Jehovah’s Witnesses using a lawsuit brought under anti-extremism legislation have been condemned as “extremely worrying” by three United Nations human rights experts*.

Another from Newsweek:

JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES BAN:
RUSSIAN CATHOLICS CONDEMN OUTLAWING OF CHRISTIAN GROUP

Russia’s Catholic Church has condemned the country’s decision to ban the activities of Jehovah’s Witnesses, claiming the move represents a threat to all religious freedom. Russia’s Supreme Court last month upheld a justice ministry decision that outlawed Jehovah’s Witnesses under the allegation that the Christian denomination violated an anti-extremism law.

Russia doesn't like minorities.

If gay nen are a minority, what are child molesters? Are they are a minority also? Gay rights, pedafile rights, trans rights, how about pornea rights. It is all one and the same, they are only a minority of a perverted society. Gay men brave? good-o for them. They are all a degenrate part of this system that will and must go down.

Goverments are decidedly two faced on these issues, but do they deserve our sympathetic comments? "They must be brave"? maybe someone will make a really good movie about them.

I am not a homophobic, we have a grandson that has taken that positon despite being raised in the truth. I have a cousin that is outstandingly gay. We have another of that persuasion that is married to a sister we have known for years, he is welcome in our house when he accompanies her, (my wife doesn't know and I don't discuss it with her) but brave? I don't think so. A minority? so are drug addicts.

We are not standing side by side with a gay "minority". Totally different concept.

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

I think it's interesting about the letter writing campaign - Russia was able to somehow suppress any information about all the millions of letters that poured into the country.  No word of them even being delivered to the people they were addressed to.

Also, although the court asked the MOJ if they had any evidence against us for extremism and the MOJ could not produce anything - it kinda all makes sense now. The MOJ could show up to court every day without anything because they knew what the verdict would be in the end, no matter what line of questioning was used or how well our brothers did in defending the brothers and sisters, the outcome WAS ALWAYS going to be what it is now - BANNED.   They didn't need to prepare or show any type of evidence and they knew it from the get go.

I have proof mine was delivered in Russia, I have someone's Russian signature LOL.  Russian stamps all over it, received on April 7.  My husband passed it to me 2 days ago and said.... youre going to want to frame this.  You got a signature response from Russia!
