Even the music in the film was good.  It sounded just like a old non talkie from the 1920's.  But the car he had looked like it was from the 1930's.   Nah, not Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, with the glasses and the hat, his mannerism was just like the original actor.  Charlie Chaplin, did more of the Little Tramp character.   He didn't remind me of the Little Tramp.   Whatever friends, this video the F&DS put out for September is just fantastic!  I have already seen it several times and in different languages.   Just sitting back and enjoying this instead of hearing and watching news about Satan's/Demons expressions - N.K. nuking USA, China, Russia, etc.

Did the GB upload it to YouTube? Or was it intended for a private screening for the attendants of the particular convention for which it was made?

It wasn't made by the GB. During the broadcast the brother explained it had now been gifted to use.

I mean, it occurred on YouTube and Facebook and whatnot. It occurred there shortly after the convention. The GB published it on JW BROADCASTING because the rights had been gifted to them. Now, did they put it on YouTube and Facebook?

I don't imagine they did -- the GB doesn't put anything on social media.

The "Knock Knock" video ended up on YouTube much like all of the recorded entertainment offerings produced during the 2014 International Convention season.  I saw "Knock Knock", videos of friends singing, dancing, etc... from all over the USA and the world.  It was very nice to see, imo -- despite the likely admonitions to not post these things on social media.

Thank you from my heart for the transcript. Because of my hearing problem I miss about 60 of the broadcast. With your transcript I get the benefit of 100% from the broadcast. I am very happy and I am profoundly grateful for you posting it.

I have profound hearing loss from birth, so transcripts, subtitles, and close-captions are a must.

However, instead of watching the monthly editions from the JW Library app, I go to the JW Broadcasting site and watch the video with subtitles. If you have a decent enough internet connection, this may work out for you, too. :squeeze:

No.

They do not use social media outlets, because they do not have control over that platform (meaning, FB and YouTube reserve the rights to remove it as they see fit), hence, the reason why they created JWB. It allows them complete control over their content. That's what you want. They wouldn't leave their news and content in the control of a world that clearly care nothing about us.

I think he was asking a rhetorical question. His point is that the video shouldn't be on FB or YT if the GB didn't put it there and we know they didn't put it there.

Since we don't know all the circumstances of how the video originally was posted I think it's more of a personal matter whether someone wants to watch the alleged bootleg copy or not. We don't have enough facts to judge.

CAUTION: The comments above may contain personal opinion, speculation, inaccurate information, sarcasm, wit, satire or humor, let the reader use discernment...:D

I guess that was his point, but wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up. My fault.

I agree with you about it being a personal matter, but since its now available legitimately from a trusted source, we can trust that copy.

So the one(s) who posted it to social media didn't own the rights to do so?

I don't know who posted it on social media but those who created the content own the rights to determine how it is used.

That's true. The rights were gifted to the GB, and the GB is not known to make such things available on social media, as someone said above.

Johan

Yeah.

The organization would never use social media, or any non-Witnesses media as their primary means to get their message out. I recall a talk brother Morris gave in 2015 at a convention and he basically said that very thing; that JWB will be used for news about us. He stated that since the world's media has no interest in us (unless they can make some money of a sensationalist headline), we will do our own news. This essentially resulted in what really is our own media and news channel, complete with a studio.

Now, I have a place to go when I want clean, and up building programming that promotes the Bible instead of the same ol' nonsense and controversy. I've long been sick of that stuff in mainstream media.

Heating impairments are a horrible imperfection. People can't see them and don't understand that just because you can hear some, doesn't mean you can hear clearly.

For the broadcast we use to translate it into sign language, but worked out if viewed on an Apple device that subtitles could be turned on! That was for our hearing impaired group, the BEST gift.

The part on Ft. McMurray.  I was on that from two ends.  In the congregation and hearing what the brothers and sisters were saying, but also working 12 hour shifts from 6 am to 6 pm and then 6 am to 6 pm with Municipal Affairs in Edmonton.  I wore myself out completely, ended up with pneumonia.

I was scribing for the deputy ministers on one day, and then right in the operations centre the next.  Seeing 26 ministries collaborating to send aid, open up roads/close roads, to seeing how the Canadian Military was deployed to send aid by sending pallets of food and water up, and survey the damage.

We had learned so much from seeing Slave Lake burn just a few short years? months? before, and the lessons learned from that saved lives.

I had an opportunity to meet our Prime Minister, got an award and some recognition too from our Premier, but the biggest reward of all was knowing that everyone was safe.

My wife and I had to more or less hold back tears during that beautiful video with the brother in a re-enactment of early 20th century field service.

However, I didn't understand the part with the Polish brother and his video-game career. What video-games was he playing on a "website" that was so time consuming where you could win prizes?

I was thinking browser-based-games, but there was never any serious competition to win prizes on browser games as far as I know. The only thing I thought of where you could pursue a career was e-sports, but the relevant games were always clearly dubious for Jehovah's Witnesses to pursue a career in, since they are almost exclusively either first-person-shooters, real-time combat-strategy-games or occult games. The only game a brother could play with a clear conscience would be FIFA soccer or Madden NFL and the likes. And then there was pornography involved in the game?

So I didn't get it, maybe someone can elaborate.

The website, as I understand it, was his own gamer blog/forum, which he deleted.

It would all depend on what games you are playing, how deep you are involved and who you play these games with. He did mention he was a "professional" game player. There are websites you have to be invited to join - and you only get such an invitation if you are on the right forum or make contact with the right people.

Yes, I do think the website he said he deleted was his own.

His prizes and deep involvement in the gaming world (there are gambling games, shooter games, puzzle games, etc) that are "invite only". These websites do not show up on a Google search.

I have never been to any of them - I am not a gamer. However, I did need to do a little research about how the process works for a book I am writing.

The music video is set in Sydney, if I'm not mistaken.  I recognise the housing architecture from near my old territory.  Anyone from Sydney, inner suburbs, confirm?  (The cart in Castlereagh St is a giveaway).

That Knock Knock video was very good, wasn't it? :)
