Updates to JW Library (iOS, Android, Windows)

I'm actually finding to more stable than previous versions.

We have been using the JW Library App for Windows on a PC  running WIndows 10 at the meetings ever since it has been "recommended" by the Branch to be used that way. We have not had any stability problems. It has not crashed. This has been over a year.

On our case we had several problems... JWLibrary just closes unexpectedly (several times)... But the worst problem was the terrible sound on most vídeos. Last week I final discovered that it was due the fact that in order to show the images from soundbox, the JW second window needed to be closed. If we were to play a  thvídeo with that 2nd window closed, JWL would create the window and play the vídeo, but the sound would be terrible! On the other hand if we played a song (also with bad áudio but less noticible because of the brothers voices) the the 2nd window would be created and if we played the vídeo the sound would be OK...

We had already decided to use only soundbox to simplify the work for the sound attendants. But with this update the only need for soundbox will be to show the countdown clock. But we can close it afterwards

It's awesome and very helpful that you can now zoom in on any image even in the iOS version.

So could an iPad be used for the AV at the KH?

 

With Soundbox and JW Library, they can be used together.  You just need to disable the second screen function of whichever app you are not using at the time.  Soundbox is still our default app, but when ever we need JW Library (and I hope to push for more use of it), we launch a script that is pinned to the taskbar that sorts out the second screen problem.  I would share it, but it would probably need changing to fit your system.

 

I have noticed that it includes pictures for all parts of the meeting, including students talk.  Never had that before.  We have also never used Soundbox auto media download function.  Always download the media myself.  With JW Library the pictures are all there ready and waiting to be used.

IOS now supports a second screen. Is there still a problem with it? It will show the annual text on the 2nd screen connected via, for example, HDMI, if I'm not mistaken. How do you seamlessly change to another image in the article since you can't swipe?

I don't know about seamlessly change the image.  You close the image, and open another one.

It's automated. All pictures from the material linked to will be presented in the Show Media section, but it's up to the speaker or conductor which images to use. I'm sure we will also get further info on when and how to use images.

Agreed. It's just something unexpected and the Sound brothers need to be aware of it.

We had an update waiting for un on Sunday for the PC at the Hall when we turned it on before the meeting .... we had the images and all the songs available but, still no text.

 

Tonight, there seemed to be another update. We now have the text. Only things was, when we had the first song, no words on the second screens. The Brother doing the sound, after the prayer was over, closed the app and started it over a couple of times. Now we have the words and the text - not at the same time - the way they should be

It is possible that an update may not affect your circle of theocratic activity..... at the moment. Some updates may simply be bug fixes that enhance effectiveness. These may not be noticeable until the feature is used. Still, it would be good to know what we have that we didn't. The fastest way to know what an update affects is to go to the app store and read what the latest changes were.  :-)

Tap a picture to view full screen
"More Songs" button on Meetings > Show Media lists all video songs, if available

I love it. I can now click on a picture and zoom in. I have been waiting for that nice feature.

Now we can use exclusively theJWL unless there's something spetial to present. The only thing I would like to use vídeo of the countdown clock, but with the problems we're having it would require to open JWL to show the text, then close it to show the clock, then close soundbox and open JWL...

Does your script help anything on this? The way I thought I would need a vídeo player that would superimpose on the JWL window when in use and when closed the JWL window would still be there...

Mine is showing the pictures of the mid-week meeting starting next week, possibly to show at the meeting, since it's in the Meetings section.

Don't know if you call it "special", but we like to display all the [READ] scriptures - JWL still does not have this feature.

By special I meant other images or audios not present in the program. We don't show the "read" scriptures - Is there any instruction regarding that? we only started showing the images after a letter stating that...

Yes, from the Watchtower, or any publication in JW Library.
