i life just south of it

where High way 101 and 12 meet i can see the smoke

Whew!

You scared me for a second there...

You're far enough away from the fires that you will be safe, sorry about the smoke and ash, if you have to go outside you can/should wear a mask. My wife does and it helps her.

There was enough ash on our car this morning that you could write your name on the windshield...

I'm pretty much gonna fall back and kick it away.  I do not want her mad at me. But, if she was to ply me with some oatmeal chocolate chip and raisin cookies I could possibly be persuaded to relate some childhood memories....

Loving your synchronicity....

The assembly hall is still there. I assume that the brothers will probably have a special meeting there for everyone affected by the fire, like the one that you went to in Fairfield.

I subscribe to Rsoe, it's a forum that gives notifications from serioius accidents, earthquakes, to natural disasters to volcanoes to forest fires.

The amount of notifications im getting lately for forest fires not only in the US but around the world is unprecedented. Really heart breaking as fire is all consuming and a very scary thing to go through.

MY thoughts and prayers are with you all, and those affected all around the world.

Mendocino Complex fire now largest in California history, scorching more than 283,000 acres

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-california-wildfires-danger-level-20180806-story.html

The Mendocino Complex fire is now the largest wildfire in modern California history, scorching more than 283,000 acres and frustrating firefighters as it continues to leap across natural and man-made barriers in Lake County.

The Ranch and River fires, which make up the complex fire, had grown to 283,800 acres as of Monday evening, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The blaze was only 30% contained.

The blaze surpassed the Thomas fire, which burned through more than 281,000 acres in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties late last year.

I’m in Redding, visiting. The smoke is horrible. And ones are wearing no masks. I got the sister I’m visiting to wear one.

You think you can take it, and go along, shopping, meetings, even field service. And that smoke has chemicals from house fires. Never mind it’s smoke. I did that one time,  and, never again. I got pneumonia, and I thought I was going to die. I could not get rid of it. If you are in a Smokey area, protect your lungs, dear friends. This is a real health hazard. It can cost you your life.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

We are getting a lot of smoke from the Mendocino fires, they are about 70 miles north of us, we are keeping the house closed up and leaving the HVAC on even at night.

Keep your HVAC filters clean, they'll get blocked up faster than usual with that air quality.

Yes, I was going to mention that. 😁

I helped change the filters at the AH after the fires we had last October and the filters were nasty..

It's also important to rinse the HVAC coils too.

Do people protect their eyes? It must be a huge irritant.

I've never heard that before. ..

Actually,  I think you're referring to the outside unit. I just had a mental image flash by, me dragging the garden hose inside, opening the HVAC closet door----

I do hose off the outside unit...spraying from inside to out...

It can be. We have ash falling here in Colfax, I'm not sure if it's from the Mendocino fire or the Ferguson fire. It's most likely from the fires that are to the West of us, which would be the Mendocino Complex fire. Richard and Bobby are much closer than we are, we are getting some smoke but I did like Rich suggested and changed the filters and have been staying inside.

Thank you for the pictures Brother Bob. That doesn't look like fun...

I'm sorry to hear that you need dialysis, that isn't much fun either.... We pray for relief from this system, you can look forward to no more dialysis treatment really soon..

Hang in there my friend. ...

Perhaps someone can verify what I think I have learned about HVAC..If your outside unit is a "package unit" (compressor and coil/blower) outside, you clean the coil outside...but if you have the compressor outside (which it still is a good idea to clean off any debree that might clog the fins); and the "air handler" either in a closet or room or atic inside, you need to spray a cleaner on the coil of the separate air handler...😎

That's what I was referring to since the fins can plug up with ash and debris. It's part of my normal maintenance but I'll do it again after fire season. It's better to use a gentle water flow so the fins don't get bent.

The "County" fire is over 70,000 acres, that's the size of the city of Sacramento. It's only 5% contained. It's all wildland area and no structures involved yet.

The news stated yesterday that it may be September before it’s contained! Whew!

The difference between try and triumph is that little "umph"

You who live in California are in our prayers..it is a heads up for me, even though in Florida, to be ready to evacuate if necessary! Any disaster can come about quickly..train derailment, airplane incident, (we live near an international airport!)😯; sink hole, gas line rupture...just to name a few!

Saw this on CNN (note: I added a little red circle where Las Vegas is. We have seen a haze, but it hasn't been too bad. I see why)
