The Mysterious Coronavirus Spreading Worldwide

Recommended Posts

All of Melbourne is in lockdown now for the next 6 weeks, not just a few “hotspot” suburbs. It’s becoming clear this is not yet under control (as if this thing is controlable”). From 127 to 191 cases overnight meant the Premier of Victoria had no choice.

To our members in Melbourne, stay safe and keep positive. Thinking of you guys 🌹

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/metropolitan-melbourne-put-into-six-week-lockdown-after-surge-of-191-new-coronavirus-infections

From the article:

(The Premier) Mr Andrews said a sense of complacency had plagued Victoria in recent weeks.

"I think each of us know someone who has not been following the rules as well as they should have," he said.

"I think each of us know that we've got no choice but to take these very, very difficult steps.

"This is binary. It is life and death. There are people across the world who have died who are otherwise healthy - not one or two. Significant numbers.

"All of us are part of families. Loved ones becoming gravely ill and potentially dying."

After this weekend of people from Arizona,  Utah,  California,  Nevada,  Texas  among others, let's see what happens.

Went to a small market this afternoon and forgot my mask, went back to the truck and got it. The check out person said she has been yelled at, cussed at like she's never experienced before (she tended bar for years, ugh terrible job) and threatened because its now law to wear a mask in public. She said people are killing people in businesses because of asking to wear a mask.

She found out one of her customers,  who comes in daily, has Covid, has touched so many items! She was just trying to protect people. Poor thing.

Hmm..

I told my wife to not enforce her store's mask policy for that reason, because, managers actually get paid to deal with unruly customers, not her. She has never enforced it, because of the attacks and verbal abuse others have suffered.

These places of business need to hire security, or dedicate a member of the management/ownership team to deal with these clown customers.

@Bob I really disagree with many of your comments in this thread but on this, as a shop worker, I completely agree. It's up to management to come up with procedures to deal with this, Satan likes to maneuver people into situations where fights will break out, it's up to us to foresee the calamity and conceal ourselves.

Btw, a quick snapshot survey of staff had complete agreement with Bob, wouldn't ask management. All it takes is one person at the door who opens and closes it for people, there should already be someone there to monitor how many customers are in the shop anyway for Social Distancing.

Rant Over.

Hey, I love when people disagree with me, otherwise, I would get big headed and think I'm right all the time. I welcome it. Its how we vet our opinions! But sure, management should definitely be dealing with that.

I hate how States have mandated masks yet, put the pressure on low wage workers to play deputy and enforce it. If they mandate it, they need to enforce it.

From the news I've been seeing of late it's city ordinances that are mandating masks, not states.  At least in Ohio and Indiana.  Now, I do recall New York state mandating masks...

From listening to Gov. Cuomo of NY State, I thought he made it a mandate for a time.

Funny thing. Here in Mich, the gov mandates masks but won't enforce not wearing one. Strange all over the board I see...

The Enforcement of a Mandate requires Police. The Police are being told they may be defunded. They are already hesitant to respond to minor offenses and infractions and in some cases have been ordered to NOT even enforce traffic violations that do not involve an accident. I , this week saw this first hand when I stopped to render aid in a crash. They are being extraordinarily cautious.  The responding officer . Seeing me in Black Scrubs was very quick to tell me to stay back “ COVID “. But it was also probably a precaution because of the “ Black scrubs” The situation could have been mistaken for an Antifa ambush.

Do you have an article I could read about this?

Following on from hatcheckgirls post, The state of Victoria is now being closed off to the rest of Australia as of midnight tonight.

Melbourne will be completely cut off from the rest of the country tonight as a new lockdown begins in a bid to control the coronavirus crisis.

Borders are already closed, cutting Victoria off from every other state, as the rest of the country watches anxiously for how fresh waves of COVID-19 will continue to spread.

Health Minister Greg Hunt said the new spike was "more significant than anybody had anticipated" and was the reason for the first closure in 100 years of the Victoria-NSW border from 12.01am today.

What we are facing now, the response we had planned for, unfortunately, is on a scale that is greater than was expected," Mr Hunt told A Current Affair.

Mr Hunt said the military would continue to be used to help states contain the virus.

"For Victorians and Melbourne residents: I know this is hard … (but) we have done this before, we will get through it," he said.

The return to Stage Three lockdown begins from midnight, putting all of Greater Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire under stay-at-home orders for six weeks.

School holidays in the state are being extendedfor another week.

Yes, I did acknowledge that at the end of the statement you quoted.  Plus I'm not up on other states.

Ohio on the state level has mandated masks for 7 specific counties.

I can not believe that on abc world news made reference to a point that was made 4 months ago almost to the date on the potential distance sars-covid-2 can linger in the indoor air conditioned environment.

Australia seems to have a way more organized government approach than here in the states. No one wants to lock down anything over here. Just heard a judge signed an order opening bowling alleys in my state. Saw a sister post on Facebook she enjoyed a water park they finally opened this past weekend. We still haven’t gotten out of phase two. It’s so crazy out there!

The water park thing was a really needless risk ( depending upon the area). With all things United States it is a matter of NO Central Authority. And this is for good reason. It makes no sense to have the same rules apply in North Dakota as California. However, we , Jehovah’s people have a uniform authority .

Well obviously, yes we do. 😊

The posts above were talking about the Melbourne area lockdown. It is virtually impossible to get that kind of scale here in the states.  Even if the order or mandate exists, people don’t listen to it!  That’s what I mean. Maybe Australians are more laid back.  I don’t know. I just know that lockdowns and masks are highly contentious around here. It seems we have gotten to a point where none of that will work anymore. They would have to enforce with the national guard to make it happen.  So best bet is to stay home and follow branch directions for sure!

From what is reported in news I see, I think corona likes bowling alleys and waterparks.

So grateful for the special local needs that the branch suggested for midweek meeting this week.

Must stay vigilant and not let guard down.

You are right for the 'live' circuit assembly. But we get the treat of JW Stream circuit assembly.- From the midweek meeting announcement.

Its any place indoors. The air just circulates and has no where to go.

Well, indoors in a social setting. Not hearing too much about stores.

I’ve heard stories about stores too. People who quarantined and then ran to the store and got it. Honestly, I haven’t  been inside of a building other than my house since April. I’ve been doing all my shopping by curbside pickup.
